My wife and I stayed for 4 nights in this hotel. This is a very modest hotel, well located and close to the metro. The best advantage of the hotel is that the price per night is cheap. The room was OK, but the TV set very small and old fashioned. The bath claimed for an urgent renovation. The breakfast was average and nothing more. I would not recommend this hotel to my friends or relatives.

I chose this hotel rather than going for an Ibis hotel, which is the chain of hotels that my husband and I normally use. I think the saying "the grass isn't always greener" would be a good way of describing my experience. I chose this hotel because I had heard that Best Western hotels are meant to be of good quality. However, this was a very average hotel, it looked in need of redecorating in parts. The room was a good size for a single room and even had a double bed in it,( I was expecting a single bed). However I was disappointed that tea & coffee making facilities were not automatically provided in the room as they would be in most high star hotels these days and felt that I should not have needed to request such a simple facility from reception. The breakfast was adequate but nothing like the breakfasts at Ibis hotels, which are good quality. Plus factor was that the hotel was ideally situated for public transport and the walk down the Avenida da Liberdade to Restauradores is quite pleasant on a nice day.

    • Liked — location and ease of access to public transport
    • Disliked — it looked in need of a good redecoration

“Center,easy transportations,friendly,rather small room”

Best Western Eduardo VII

Mar 13, 2008

Hotel is in the new commercial center of Lisabon. For reaching the old town quarter,ca & km good walk. All the practical facilities are available, typical an Olympic city as everywhere. Small, and only 2 lifts, when one lft is out of order, then chaos.
Chamber is small, because the 2 sepatated beds are too big!
Air Condition is good and quiet. Breakfast is OK. ,I prefer the excellent fruits!
Hotel Restaurant is not so good as they promised.
Day trips offers are with quality.
The HOTEL TEAM IS FRIENDLY; There is no public telefon boot in the hotel lobby.
In conclusion: its practical and good for your money.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — Good for small budget.
    • Disliked — Chamber is rather small, because the two beds in the chamber are too large.

I've been to Lisbon before and this time chose Hotel Eduardo VII mainly because it was a good deal (in Expedia) and for it's location.

It's a five minute walk from Parque metro station (Blue line), 10 minutes from Baixa/Chiado (centre of town) and 10 minutes from the Colombo shopping Centre at Colégio Militar/ Luz. I go to Lisbon to shop so that was an important factor.

It's also next to one of the stops (Fontes Pereira Melo) on the airport-to-town Aerobus route. It's about 20 minutes from the airport, 30 during the rush hour.

The hotel is next to one of the busiest streets in Lisbon so if possible ask for a room at the back. We did just that and were given a quiet room (215). Of course you hear the usual hotel noises (water running next door, the lift bell) but other than it was great. Not much of a view but we didn't come to Lisbon to look out the hotel window!

The hotel staff are friendly from front desk to bell boys to room attendants. The beds are HUGE. We had twin beds and they were like doubles. They had the best mattresses I've ever slept on in a hotel. The pillows were good too. The room was warm (two radiators) and there is a thermostat (both on the wall and on the radiators) so you can have it as hot as you like! The bathroom was a great size and hot water was HOT. I had a bath and it filled up really quickly! The bath was a good size. I'm 170 cm (5.7") and could lie flat in it. The towels were nice too and there was a decent hairdryer for once! And a decent size mirror both in the bathroom and the room. The room had a make-up/writing desk and a chair.

The TV had the usual suspects: BBC Prime, CNN, Sky News, MTV/VH1, all local stations and tons of other satellite stations like Bio, History etc etc.

Breakfast was the usual affair of coffee/tea/juices/croissants/breads/meats/fruits/cereals. I've had better/more choice but it was more than sufficient. The breads were particularly nice and everything was fresh. Nice coffee with hot milk too. The breakfast room is on the 10th floor and it gets the morning sunshine. Don't sit in the terrace bit if you're afraid of hights, it's a sheer drop!
The hotel has two lifts.

Nearest big supermarket is under the El Corte Ingles department store about 10 minutes walk/São Sebastião metro station (second stop north from the hotel) Entrance is both from the store ground floor (the perfume section) and the metro station.

“Good hotel, very well served”

Best Western Eduardo VII

Nov 28, 2007

My trip in Portugal was for 3/4 based in Lisboa.
This hotel, even if appears to be far from the town center is really well served by public transport: taxi at very low cost (with repect of italian fares), metro at less than 200 meters, bus stop in front of the hotel, allow everyone to reach the center and the Expo in few minutes!!!
The rooms spaces are quite good and neat, the restaurant/breakfast area is very panoramic and at reasonable prices (take care of wine, is not cheap), the personnel is very gentle.
I enjoyed to stay there, although some defects have to be reported: the lift are small and not recent, the common areas are also small and if the hotel is full are not sufficient, the traffic in the street is noisy...so if you have a room on the main street you cannot open the window...so use the air conditioning and don't smoke!!! ;)

    • Liked — position, panoramic restaurant
    • Disliked — common areas small
