“Clean Hotel”

Best Western Eduardo VII

Nov 17, 2007

I have read some of the reviews which suggest that this hotel is dirty and undesirable. This was certainly not the case, there is no doubt that the hotel is dated and is well overdue for renovation but I found it to be very clean both in my room and throughout the hotel.

My room was very small and at the back of the hotel and looked out over the roof of what looked like the boiler room but they had tried there best to make it pleasant by having lots of pot plants covering this area. My friends room on the other hand which faced out to the front of the hotel was a lovely size.

The reception staff were pleasant enough but I think could have been more attentive.

On the whole I would recommend it as a good, cheap base to stay, most of our time was out and about and enjoying Lisbon so wasn't overly worried about hotel facilities.

However, if your looking for plush, luxurious surrounding you certainly won't get it for this price so I suggest you stay elsewhere.

“The worst Best Western Hotel we have stayed in Globally”

Both my wife and I are seasoned travellers and stay in Best Western hotels on average 60 nights a year. I can honestly say with hand on heart this is not an experience that we want to repeat. Here are a few of our experiences.

1. Bedrooms very cramped with carpets smelling of damp and needing a good hoover.
2. Reception staff need some additional training on how to meet and greet and learn to smile not frown.
3. Breakfast was a free for all with no semblance of order whatsoever.
4.Dark and smelly hallways to disguise the appearance of decorationor lack of it.

This is not a hotel that we would recommend and sruggle to se how it has attained a 3 star rating.

Come on Best Western you are letting your standards slip considerably, can we suggest that this hotel is re-inspected and re-categorised.

We stayed in July, we were in a room at the front of the hotel. The website said that all rooms have air-con, this is true but it does not work very well. We had to open the windows to try to get some air in to our room and it was very noisy with the constant stream of traffic 24/7.
Our room was not that great, the curtains looked as though they could have done with a good clean .
Generally the room and hotel could do with a make over.
The resraunt had fantastic panoramic views of Lisbon, the breakfast was ok if you could get a table.
Overall I did not enjoy the hotel it was not as good as it appeared on the website.

“Good base for a weekend break...”

We stayed here for a weekend break in April 07. The rooms appeared to be an absolute bargain at £38 per night for the 2 of us with breakfast included (Best Western early web special). In fact, they were, but I was slightly disappointed because as a 'Premier' Best Western I expected more - Glad I didn't pay the full rate! Rooms were quite small, but reasonably clean and the breakfast was OK.
Just looks a bit tired generally.
Don't believe what you read about it being out on a limb - the Metro station is 100 metres away, easy & cheap acces anywhere in the city.
If you're looking for luxury, don't bother. If you travel on a budget, it's great value for money. On that basis, yes, i'd recommend it.

The location was very good, with lots of transport links close by.

A comfortable and clean room with an average continental buffet breakfast included.

The only thing was it was a bit expensive, because they hiked up the prices for the football Euro 2004.
