“Good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

We visited Lisbon for 4 days from the 1st July choose to stay in the Lisboa Plaza because of its central location. Got a taxi from the airport to the hotel was a little disappointed it was so far up at the top of Avendia da Liberdade its a bit of a walk to get to the Alfama or Bairro Alto areas where all the restaurants bars and night life is! On check in did not find the receptionist very friendly or courteous, but the young guy who showed us to our room was very helpful showed us the hotel amenities including free use of the internet in their room on the ground floor. Our room was spacious clean with a fine big en suite, well stocked with towels and toiletries. This boutique style hotel is old world in decor very *Portuguese*,one drawback ,they very much lack decent bar facilities and as i said the hotel is in a quiet area of the avenue. We really enjoyed the exceptional breakfast buffet every morning, choices of excellent juices, bucks fizz if you so desired, fresh fruits, cereals, wonderful array of breads, hot food, an Nespresso machine!! (what a treat), and to finish some divine pastries with wait for it a chocolate fountain!! An enjoyable stay in a very hot Lisbon,40* but as for the city itself it did not impress me much! Check out of our hotel was by the same unfriendly receptionist, so no ,''did you enjoy your stay with us''!!

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.
Whilst we are pleased that you enjoyed many features of our Hotel, we are most concerned that our receptionist didn’t meet your expectations. For us, it is a point of honor that all our staff transmit the warmth and friendliness of our people. We are very sorry that it was not your experience and we will keep on working to provide our guests a totally satisfactory stay.
Concerning our location, the Lisboa Plaza stands in a quiet street on the lower half of Avenida da Liberdade, Lisbon’s premier promenade. Bairro Alto is located on a hill adjacent to the Avenida, so very close to our Hotel. Being a steep hill, you can take Gloria funicular, just 5 minutes from the Hotel.
Looking forward to have the opportunity of welcoming you again in the future and offer you a totally satisfactory stay.
Yours sincerely,
Diogo Laranjo

The hotel is in a good location, easy to find and walking distance to Chiado, Bairro Alto etc. The outside, lobby, restaurant and bar look great however the bedrooms are a little out dated, but they're clean and the beds and pillows are very comfortable. It's a good hotel.

The hotel looks just like it does in all the photos. It is a real experience in a historic hotel. The rooms are a little on the small side, but they do the job. Air conditioning worked very well even though it was 41 degrees in Lisbon. The breakfast spread was great, and most of the staff in the hotel are amazing, with the exception of the staff at breakfast, who are clearly not there to interact with anyone. Internet worked well in the rooms, but electrical outlets are hard to come by.

Drawbacks: In room safe is too small for a laptop, and the hotel allows dogs, apparently, so I was woken up an hour early every morning by the non-stop barking of some tiny excuse of a dog owned by the young Japanese couple in the room next to me. If the hotel really cares about its guests, I should decide whether it wants to serve people or run a kennel. I very much want to give the hotel a 5 out of 5 rating, but because of the dog experience, the hotel does not deserve such a rating.

Have to agree with other reviewers this hotel was excellent. Rooms very very nice and a good size bathroom with robes and slippers provided which was a nice touch. Breakfast was first rate- loads of choice from hot and cold dishes. Staff were very helpful.A/C worked very well and it was needed as it was really hot outside and it was lovely to get back to a nice cool room.

We have just returned from a 5 night stay at this lovely hotel. I really couldn't fault it. Our room wasn't large but was nicely decorated in traditional style in cool, calming colours. The room had loads of storage space, very efficient ( and quiet !!) air-con, DVD player, mini bar , safe, hairdrier etc. Bathroom was a good size with an excellent shower, robes and nice toiletries. The whole hotel is spotlessly clean. We arrived early in the day ( before 12) and were shown to our room straight away which was great. The public areas are beautiful with lots of dark wood antique furniture and mirrors. There are jugs of iced water available in reception at all times. The staff are very efficient, helpful and friendly. The location is great just behind the main Avenue da Liberdade. There are metro stations and bus stops nearby. Also pavement cafes on the Avenida which were great for a nightcap on way back to hotel. You can walk easily to the starting point for the open-air tourist buses. there is a little park near the hotel. The breakfast room is really lovely and there is truly something for everyone. There is a huge choice including scrambled eggs, pastries, fruit, yogurt, bread, prosecco and a chocolate fountain !! There is a beautiful roof terrace with sofas, sunbeds and an honesty bar ! There is a lovely, calm feel to the whole hotel. It was a lovely place to return to after a busy day in a great city. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend for a stay in Lisbon.

Dear Guest,
Thank you very much for your kind words.
The Lisboa Plaza is a traditional Portuguese hotel from the 50’s where the guests have the opportunity to experience our culture.
The size of the rooms and bathrooms varies according to room category but all of them have the same home feeling.
It is also part of the Portuguese tradition to make our guests feel well and we are very happy that you fully enjoyed your stay.
We very much look forward to welcoming you again to the Lisboa Plaza.
Yours sincerely,

This charming hotel is just off a main busy Avenue, so immediately feels quiet and relaxing.

It has a classic but modern charm with very friendly and helpful staff.

The first night we arrived we were recommended a restaurant literally around the back of the hotel. I thought the receptionist said it overlooked a park, he actually said, it overlooked a car park. However, the night was still relatively young, very warm and it was a fantastic family run restaurant. It felt slightly surreal in terms of surroundings, you kind of felt you were on a film set, but nothing mattered, it was fantastic food. In fact, we rather liked the 'natural' surroundings, they certainly didn't detract from the evening. It almost added to it.

At the hotel, we were given a room on the 5th floor where there was a terrace, perfect to enjoy the Lisbon night sky with wonderful views.

The room had everything needed and was very comfortable. I would definitely go back to this hotel as it was so central and yet semi private.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 5th floor which is where the terrace is

The location is wonderful and the staff very polite and helpful. Our room was clean and quite spacious with a desk and a small table with 2 chairs. It also had a TV,a DVD player, airconditioning, a mini bar and a safe. Very handy. The maids are very efficient and keep the room spotless. The buffet breakfast is amazing - a big selection of foods, juices and an espresso machine. The hotel is close to the Avenido metro and there are cafes, restaurants bank atm's and shops all within easy walking distance. The staff can call a taxi for you on request and they are usually here in a couple of minutes. I would definitely stay here on any future trips to Lisbon and highly recommend it!

Room Tip: We were on the third floor facing the back of the hotel with a view of flowering trees.
