“Good value for money.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013 via mobile

We stayed for one night with our teenage daughter and paid just £78. We were very pleased with the quality and in particular the cleanliness of the room. The facilities were of a good standard and the location was within a fifteen minute walk to large areas of the city centre. The car parking at 12 Euros per day was also useful as there didn't seem to be much of an alternative in the area. The lift from the car park took us directly to the reception area. The staff weren't especially warm but they were efficient and knew their stuff!

We stayed at the Clarion in July 2013, with our 2 boys ages 9 + 11. The hotel is well equipped for a family with a kitchenette to keep snacks and food for hungry boys. The outdoor pool was a treat for all especially after exploring different parts of Lisbon during the day - the pool was a great way to cool off. Close to cafes and pastry shops, the metro, restaurants and McDonalds. Don't hesitate to book this hotel.

With a hotel in a nice central part of Lisbon with terrific and amazingly well equipped suites and a very welcome pool area it should have been enjoying a five star review. And the sole reason that I have knocked off a Star is because of the reception staff. We had booked and paid extra for a room with a balcony but were brusquely informed by the young front desk assistant that one wasn't available. I pointed out that it clearly said "room with balcony" on our booking form but was met with a shrug of his shoulders and a "take it up with Ebookers". It was clear we were getting nowhere so we had no option but to accept the position. We were then handed a booking form which I signed only to be told "no don't just sign it. Fill it in!" I pointed out that it was already filled but with the wrong information - my name was correct but the rest of the information related to someone from Chicago, USA and not Aberdeen, Scotland! The look I received suggested that he thought he was addressing a backward child "well score it out an write in the right information!" Was response I received. This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel and on both occasions the reception staff have been considerably less than welcoming although I must say that on the previous occasion the reception assistant was just off handed; this time the guy was down right rude. I have recommended this hotel to several people visiting Lisbon but will think twice before I do so again.

Room Tip: Avoid paying extra for a room with a balcony!

We stayed here last summer and had a fantastic time. The rooms were so great and the swimming pool and garden were amazing. Good location, the staff were friendly, and the breakfast was delicious. Couldn't recommend this hotel any more, basically!

The hotel was clean although some of the decor is a bit tired and could do with a freshen up. There is plenty of space in the rooms and it is handy having the dining area and kitchenette. The staff were nice and helpful. The pool area was clean although doesn't have sun all day. The hotel is close to the metro which is easy to use although taxis are reasonable.

Overall the hotel is good. It has excellent location, just in center next to metro and tourists bus station.

We bought 48 hours ticket for “grey line" service (red and blue lines) and basically used it as our public transport.

For me the disappointment was the kitchen equipment.

The bedroom at this hotel is very clean and tidy and fairly modern, lots of english TV Channels which came in handy when it rained! We were at the front of the hotel and some nights it was noisy from traffic and public.

The choice of food at breakfast is by far the worst I have ever seen for a 4* hotel - I would rate this hotel a good 3* but no way a 4!!! On the first morning their was one piece of bacon, scrambled eggs and mushrooms - and thats it!!!! I decided to get a croissant and let my partner have the bacon - stupid me, it was stale!!! So i then ate cereal (which i very rarely eat) every morning for the next 4 days!

There is a mcdonalds on the same road as the hotel - i would go there for breakfast instead!

We struggled to find places to eat in Lisbon there seemed to be a lot of cafe type places so getting a hotel that does a decent evening meal would be a good idea - we were B+B and I am not sure if this hotel offers an evening meal but I can imagine it being pretty crap if it does!

The location of the hotel is a good 10-15 min walk to the centre where the shops are. I spent 4 nights at the hotel and i think it was personally a bit too long - however it did rain the whole week we were in portugal so that did not help matters!

I would not stay here again or recommend this hotel!

when we asked for a taxi to the Aquarium they said they did a transfer instead for 15 Euros and we presumed if we got a taxi it would either be more or we would get ripped off - no turns out we would have actually saved 5 Euros as the balance was only 9 in the taxi!

Then when we booked a transfer for the airport thinking we would pay the same 15 Euros as before they didnt take our payment and told us to pay the Taxi which then cost us 20 Euros - not too bad because it was about a 20min drive but it just made no sense!

Oh and the lifts are very bouncey!
