“Great hotel”

Dom Pedro Palace

We stayed three nights in this great hotel in the end of january, situated near Parque Eduardo. We stayed in a tower-room on the 18th floor. Great view! The service both in reception, bar and breakfast-restaurant was superb. Very impressing breakfast-buffet. The spa-treatment can be highly recommended but expensive. As guests in a tower-room, we also had access to the self serviced lounge on the 19th floor - providing us with free beverages, newspapers and pastry. The hotel are situated in walking-distance (20 min.) from the shopping-district in Baixa. The only drawback we´ll mention is that you can´ t turn the air-condition low enough (heat). We can highly recommend to stay in this hotel. R&K, Norway

The Dom Pedro was a very nice hotel, and very reasonably priced. The assistant manager escorted me to the room, telling me about the hotel's pool and spa, and other amenities. The room was large, and well dressed in red, gold and black. It included a comfortable king-sized bed, seating area with table and chairs, marble lined bathroom with separate toilet. Lots of water pressure in the shower, and great heating/ac control. Fully stocked minibar, great in-room dining menu, and wonderful Italian restaurant on the property. The people were friendly and helpful. Conveniently located to shopping at the Amoreiras Mall. Free internet in the business center, but wired (for fee) in the rooms (bring a EEE wire or borrow one from the front desk)

Visited Lisbon for the first time for new year. Got a good deal with flights from Expedia. Would have been sorry to have paid rack rate for the Dom Pedro.

Pluses
Good sized room, Good bathroom with plenty of surface around the basin.
Efficient lifts
Some pleasant staff
Opposite Amoreiras shopping centre
Not smokey as one reviewer experienced
Poor thermostat, room was too hot.
Window might pose a risk of accidental egress for a small child

Negatives
Location is not near to the nightlife (but taxis are cheap)
Not a five star, a good four star maybe
Check in efficient but not friendly or welcoming
Breakfast very expensive at 19 euro
Internet expensive at 22 euro for 24 hours
'phone cost 2 euros to connect a free 800 call - a bit steep!
Despite advertising a panorama there is nowhere for the ordinary people to see it. I asked and was brusquely refused. If you stay in the Clinton Suite or use the VIP lounge I guess you see the city view

No particular reason not to stay at the Dom Pedro, but no reason to choose it either. Sofitel is better placed

“Not a Four or Five Star Hotel”

My experience at the Dom Pedro was disappointing. This is not a four or five star hotel, and non-smokers beware….the lobby, public areas, room corridors, elevators and rooms all stink of smoke.
Did not use the SPA as it was closed, the room had great views, but the toiletries, bath towels were sub standard. The bedding needed replacing and was damaged / old. No proper workdesk in the room, not suitable for business travellers.

It is also difficult to get a taxis here, not the hotel’s fault, there is a crazy one way system which does not allow for taxis to come to the hotel. You need to cross two busy roads to get a cab and the cab has to do all the rounds to end up at the hotel entrance.

Do not recommend this hotel, there are better hotels in Lisbon.

“Not a 4 Star”

Dom Pedro Palace

We booked 2 nights here to relax before meeting friends for a couple of weeks in Portugal. Fortunately, we didn't really want to sightsee because the hotel is not close to anything (it's in a residential/commercial area) except a large enclosed shopping center, Amoreiras, almost directly across a divided roadway. The center is open long hours, has a grocery store and a number of restaurants. That's useful because the hotel only has one restaurant with a rather limited menu (except for breakfast, which is quite ample). There is a large elaborately furnished lobby, but no other public amenities -- no small shop for newspapers, maps, no business center, etc. The lobby and hallways always seemed heavy with smoke. The room was clean and decently furnished but without a working desk. Internet was available in the room, but expensive (22€/day). Rather an odd place.
