Not been over the bridge in some time but never forgotten. Just the spance of it is truely amazing. Do it, travel over it and enjoy
I love driving along this bridge. It takes ages to cross the river but it´s quicker than the swim! Not that I would recommend swimming across. The one thing to remember is that once you enter the bridge, you are commited. No U-turns, that would be very dangerous so don´t do it. It´s like when you miss your exit on the M1. You go to the next junction, you don´t try reversing back.
Great drive over the bridge to view the river and look back at the city. Also beautiful at night with the lights shining on the water.
It was a great experience to ride a motorcycle across the bridge. At 17km, this is the longest bridge in Europe. I rode on the Sunday morning of the Lisbon Marathon so they were dropping off buses full of runners. Traffic was light and I was able to pull over and take pictures. This is definitely worth the toll to cross in both directions. You only pay the toll westbound.
from almost everywhere in Lisbon you can see both bridges, but at Parque das Nações, you can really feel this magnificent arquitetecture of a bridge.
