“great museum, a little bit out of the way”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2014

This is a wonderful museum, located slightly out of the main city centre but easily accessible by bus. Lovely courtyard, well worth the visit.

“Your eyes will hurt but in a good way”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2014

So many tiles! This place is a little bit out of the way but worth seeking out if you are remotely interested in Portugal's most distinctive art, the azulejo (tile). You can see the evolution from the Moorish style to what we have today. Honestly, your eyes start to feel a bit numb after a bit. Good thing the museum has an awesome courtyard where you can take a break.

“Hidden Wonder”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2014

OK - not hidden. Right on the #742 bus line but out of the tourist district. Well worth the visit especially if you marveled at the exterior & interior tile of Lisbon's buildings. Everything from the sacred to the profane is included within the broad collection to enhance one's appreciation of five centuries of Azulejo.

Fee charged but free to Lisboa card holders.

“Go for the tile, stay for the food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

Had a great tour of the museum. Fascinating variety of tiles.
But let me tell you about lunch! The museum cafe is a treasure. Neat as a pin and with a cool and inviting covered courtyard. Our wait-person was Ricardo. Ricardo spoke excellent english and had great dining suggestions. We were welcomed. The salmon salad was perfect.
Go for the tile, stay for the food!

Take a taxi. The bus is not that much fun.
