“A must”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

This museum should definitely be on your list if you are visiting Lisbon, not only for their collection of tiles but also for the building itself. The monastery was built in the XVI century and survived the earthquake, it has a beautiful church and chapels. The collection of the tiles and tile panels is amazing! You can see tile panels that have always been part of the monastery, tiles saved from destroyed buildings (palaces, churches) and some donated. Just beautiful. Definitely don't forget your camera. And then end the visit with a snack at their restaurant/cafeteria which is decorated with tiles as well.

“Amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2013

This museum is not in central Lisbon, but easily accessible by metro and bus. An old convent houses the most remarkable examples of Portuguese tile work.;; Worth the find!

“could try harder”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

i dont get this museum. its supposed to be one of LIsbons gems but i dont know why! hard to find by walking - get the number 794 bus which drops you outside. at least i went on a sunday morning and it was free! the highlight for me was not the tiles but the beautiful chapel that is steeped in history. if you had to not do something in Lisbon. this is it.

This was somewhat out of the way but accessible by bus. Very interesting self guided tour with electronic headsets.

“Tile museum visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013

We enjoyed the visit and there was an extremely helpful lady who exxplained it all to us. our personal preference is for the older tiles - superb - and the top floor Lisbon panorama. The 20th century ones are not to our taste.
