“Somewhere to be cossetted”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

It is impossible to fault this hotel. The staff are friendly, efficient and helpful. The room was wonderful. Room service was excellent and not too expensive. It did seem a little out of the way but, as other reviewers have commented, taxis are cheap and easily available. But if you just want to relax around the pool all day this is an ideal spot. There are great views out across the Tagus river.

We are finishing off five beautiful days in Lisbon, staying at the Lapa Palace. The hotel is tastefully decorated, and extremely well run. They just do not know how to say no. Everything we could ask for was made available with grace and consideration. If you wanted a dining room meal in the bar, no problem, a special pillow, no problem, special food for my grandson, no problem. We truly felt like we were staying in a private villa and everyone was here to just to make us happy which they did.
The rooms are spacious and well cared for and the setting is beautiful.
It is not the most convenient of locations as you really cannot walk to anywhere but cabs were very inexpensive and readily available. I would not consider staying anywhere else.

Olissippo Lapa Palace is located in a quiet neighborhood of embassies/diplomatic residences. Intuition may suggest being far from major sights but with very cheap and totally honest/trust worthy taxis in Lisbon one can go anywhere within minutes. The hotel has a nice outdoor pool with lawn and terrific snack/lunch spot. Indoor pool, spa/fitness center, full dinning, bar and tea service etc make Lapa a resort-like establishment within the city. Great to relax after a day of sight seeing. The staff are most accommodating and efficient, and service is delivered with grace and ease. We spent three nights at Lapa and every aspect was impeccable. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the breakfast sumptuous. The Concierge recommends and arranges dinner reservation and transportation with knowledgeable advice. The rate is on the high side but compared with the Four Seasons located in the business area Lapa is reasonable considering the perfect combination of luxury and serene setting. In addition, the reservation staff is most helpful before arrival in helping with special requests and questions via e-mail.

We have stayed at Lapa Palace Hotel several times and we always look forward coming back since our first time in 1998.
Lapa Palace has the most fantastic staff. They possesses the rare combination of professionalism and friendliness. Add elegant decorated public rooms (bar, restaurant, breakfast room, terrace) and great rooms with private balconies, and you get the most complete stay in Lisbon you can imagine.
And could it be better to start the day with a swim in either the indoor pool (small) or outdoor pool (big)?
The hotel is situated in a nice and quiet residential/diplomatic area.
Lapa Palace Hotel is definately our "home away from home" when we are in Lisbon.

Fantastic! A palace. All you'd expect of a 5* hotel, plus several lovely additional details. There is a strange mixture because the building looks old and classic but the guest rooms are modern and spacious but fitted with luxurious marble etc. A perfect combination.

One of the very best hotels we have stayed ... Situated in a very good part of town , near many of the Embassy residences, it is the best hotel in Lisbon. First class, five star , in every way , wonderful piano bar, great restaurant, beautiful outdoor pool and lounging area, and best of all top service. The hotel must have heard it was our anniversary and send Champagne to our room.
We shall return .

This jewel in the crown nestles amongst the embassy quarter of Lisbon, perched high on the hill.
The beautiful entrance is endorsed by the wonderful, genuine professional welcome from the staff. This continued for the entirety of our stay.
Slightly odd build, in which you are actually on the 4th floor when you enter the building and take the lift down to the 3rd and lower floors. It's down to the foundations on granite rock.
The bar has good stock and in the evening the piano player serenades you.
There are 2 pools and indoor near the spa which does excellent massages, and the outdoor pool which has a bar and food served. The pool attendant keeps you supplied with fresh towels.
The food in the restaurants is very good.
1 downside is that there is nothing in the vicinity to see, it's a taxi ride into town, good thing is that they are quite cheap and don't rip you off. If you venture out, no high heels as the cobbles will crucify you - trainers only.
Upper floors get a beautiful view out across the bay.

Room Tip: Even numbers look out over the pool.
