“smells and sounds of Lisbon.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

Alfama is the old part of the city with little shops, restaurants and the typical pastelaria where you can enjoy the delicious sweets of Lisbon at a really cheap price.

“Lisbon's Soul”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

The people are amazing, the arts and crafts you can buy as souvenirs, the restaurants to eat nice grilled fish and drink typical out of the box red wine, to ear Fado for free, and just absorb the streets beauty. Lisbon is not Chiado and its youth, it's Alfama, the great old granny!

“Mwah, Beautiful but touristic and expensive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

It's nice but its a little bit like disneyland. A lot of tourists and they want to get money out of everything. If you go here you will spend at least 40 euro's per person.

“Worth the walk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

This area is hilly but well worth walking arround. Cobble stoned litttle winding streets, tramcars and quaint Portuguese shops and restaurants, this is also one of the key areas for Fado with dinner.

It's very trendy and Bohemian, but the friendly restauranteurs and locals make it very much the Portugal most people go to see.

“Nice quarter”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012

Alfama is the oldest quarter of Lisboa and has many little streets and old houses. You can take one of the Electricos to avoid climbing every street.
In Alfama is a popular Cathedral and a great bookshop where you can buy books about Lisboa in many different languages.
