We decided to stay in Avenida Palace because of the great reviews in Tripadvisor. And we choose the right place. Hotel is located perfectly. Metro is just aroung the corner, train station as well and all of the nice restaurants and beautiful sights.
Hotel staff is truly friendly and helpful. Really nice people. Lobby bar was a nice surprise because of the great bartender, Tiego. He made our first night (we arrived pretty late, we were tired after our flights etc.) at the hotel a great one, we had nice drinks and he told us where to go and what to do during our vacation.
Rooms are beautiful, specious and clean. I felt like home because of the warm colours and romantic style of the room. Hotel staff really takes care of you when you stay there, we got strawberries, chocolates, candy and a small bottle of port wine to our room during our stay.
Breakfast was (almost) the same every morning but there was plenty to eat (eggs, bacon, toast, cheese, sausage, fish, chorizo, fruits, yogurt, bread, croissant........). And service at the breakfast room was really good as well.
Wi-fi worked well and was free, a big plus. We didn't need concierge during our stay but I'm sure if you need, he'll help you with almost everything. My husband needed to print few documents and he would have been fine if someone just told him where to find the computer and the printer - but no, he was actually escorted to this room where the computer was. You don't expect this kind of service nowadays.
I don't have anything bad to say about our stay. Not a thing. We would stay in Avenida Palace again. We enjoyed our time at the hotel and in Lisbon. Great, friendly people and they spoke English so well almost every where we went.
Our trip was on April, it was nice time to visit. For us weather was warm, few rainy days. And when it rains in Lisbon, it really rains so take a good umbrella with you. But the rain doesn't usually last long. Remember to take good shoes with you because you'll feet will thank you for that. And when you want to find nice place to eat, try to go a little bit further from the busy, touristy places (around Rossio square). We found couple nice places and ate well and tasted really nice wines.
