“Excellent attraction”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

It is both child and adult friendly in that the fish etc can be seen by all. Penguins and otters also a delight.
Well worth the trip!

“Good but expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013

I feel that a visit to a Zoological garden or an aquarium is a must every few years inn ones lifetime to see the various creatures that share our planet and have a mute right to coexistence and survival to adulthood.
The oceanario de Lisboa is a very good place to see the aquatic animals, though a bit expensive.the quality of the experience is excellent .
Added to that a trip on the cable car which was not crowded in end of October made it worthwhile.
The views from the cable car is breathtaking especially those of the Vasco da Gama bridge and tower.
Must see.

“Very big main tank”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013

It's the only aquarium I can recall where all of the climate zone areas actually share the main tank - only apparent once you get to the lower level and can look up in the corners and see the otters, penguins etc. Apart from a handful of standalone tanks for seahorses, jellies and similar fragile creatures it's one big ecosystem. Reasonable amount of English signage plus various languages available on audio players make it a good international visitor spot. Tickets are ridiculously annoying though - the queue to buy at the box office was enormous, partially because the automated ticket machines only take cash, and only in Euro note denominations of 5, 10, 20. Seriously people - why no credit/debit option? The slots are all present on the machines, just with black duct tape covering them!

We visited Oceanario having arrived in Lisbon on a P&O cruise. We got a public bus from outside the cruise terminal which was very easy, took ten minutes and cost €3.50 each return. The aquarium is housed within a modern and stylish building which was well worth a look in itself.

The aquarium was the best I've been to (including Sydney, Cape Town, London, La Coruna) the main tank was breath taking. All the other exhibits were interesting and very well designed. You can see penguins in a rocky sea shore setting and then drop down a level to see them diving down to fish - fantastic.

The aquarium has a lovely cafe which was reasonably priced. The surrounding area is also worth a look with water gardens, cable car station and lovely promenade.

A great day out - highly recommended . The €16 entrance fee was well worth it.

The central tank is mesmerising and you could see it from so many different points on your journey through the Aquarium. Would recommend it highly.
