“Fantastic views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2014

Beautiful monument located in a park that gives a magnificent view of Lisbon and the river. Impressive monument of Christ that resembles the Christ in Rio de Janeiro.

“Awesome view at the top & how to go to Cristo Rei”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2014

The view at the top of Cristo Rei was stunning. You could see Lisbon, Tagus river and the 25 April bridge and not forgetting, Jesus. We reached there at 6.20pm which was almost closing time (they close at 6.30pm) but the staff allowed us to visit the top of the statue, giving us some allowance time. only ushering us down to take the lift back down at around 6.50pm. Though time was short, we enjoyed the views and found it worth the 5 Euros admission fee to go to the top of Cristo Rei.

Do take note that the lift only brings you to a certain level. You will need to climb some stairs in order to reach the top. Also, it gets very windy at the top. Be careful with your skirts or dress.

To get to Cristo Rei, take the ferry from Cais do Sodre ferry terminal (it is in the building next to the Cais do Sodre metro station, head towards the right when you exit the metro station). Buy your ferry tickets at the counter or ticket machine at the ferry terminal. Destination : Cacilhas. It costs 2.90 euros for a return ticket per person to Cacilhas. Ferry ride takes 10 minutes to reach Cacilhas from Cais do Sodre. Once you reach Cacilhas, exit the ferry terminal and walk towards the left towards the red lighthouse. The bus stop for bus 101 to Cristo Rei is near the lighthouse - the second last bus stop (near to the Tagus river & the lighthouse). The bus comes every '00 & '30 of the hour. (I will attach a pic of the bus 101 schedule) Bus 101 ticket costs 2 euros per person for a return journey (2-ways). Keep your bus ticket to show the driver for the return bus ride. Approximately 15 minutes bus ride to reach Cristo Rei (the last stop). Look out for the return bus schedule when you reach the Cristo Rei bus stop so that you won't miss the last bus.

Hope this helps.

“Unique and outstanding views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2014

Worth the effort and time for the unique view across the Tagus to downtown Lisbon and the 25 April bridge. Bus 101 the quickest, but the quayside and elevator route looks the more interesting. Suggest combine Cristo Rei with exploring the ships in dry dock at Cacilhas.

“A must-see sight for Lisbon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2014

re-visiting a site can be fraught with disappointments for many reasons. When we returned to Cristo Rei statue we found it better than before. The site now has monuments and the signage has improved. There is now a sculpture of Mary and the pathways are more defined. The best thing about the visit was that , with friends we discovered a renewed love for the views of Lisbon.
