Outside the gates of the castle, the place seems to specialise in curries (I had curried offal). Price pretty average for the area, although food slightly below average. It was ok, but I wouldn't rush back there, I think there are better places to eat in the area.

“Great Indian Food near Lisbon Castle”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2011

We probably would have skipped this place had we not done the Inside Lisbon gourmet walking tour and learned about the connection between southern Indian and Portugese cuisine. The place is tiny and a bit seedy looking, but the food was excellent. Prices are probably a bit more than you would pay at other Indian places in Lisbon, but are reasonable compared to the other touristy places near the castle. Highly recommend this if you are in the castle area and in the mood for something to eat.

“Felt cheated”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2011

We've had a fabulous week traveling around Portugal, have eaten at some fantastic, unexpectedly good restaurants, but it all cam crashing down tonight at this restaurant. The food was nice enough but the bill was a real shock - so much more than we expected. They charged for everything put on the table, including condiments for the bread that we ordered. Just such a cheapskate tactic - they made a couple of extra Euro in sales, but also annoyed a customer so much he felt compelled to tell the world about it.
As I said, the food was OK, but the value was just not there compared to many other places around.

“Unique and authentic”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2010

This quaint restaurant by the castle offers up authentic Goan/Mangalorean Indian food that is heavily influenced by the Portugese. Do not expect traditional North Indian food here. Even common staples, such as naan are completely different. Great dishes to try here are the pork sarapatel ( sarapatel de porco) and the indian sausage (chourico indiano). The latter is very similar to tradiational goan sausages. All in all, itºs a great break from the typical Portuguese fare for those adventurous eaters out there.

“Overpriced, mediocre food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2010

Went to this restaurant because it was recommended by Rick Steves and we found the relationship of Portugal and India interesting. The small restaurant is initmate and charming, but the food is just fair and the prices are much higher than comparable places we patronized.
