“Must-go place in Lisbon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

100 Maneiras is deservedly one of the top places in Lisbon. We were able to secure a table even though we had no reservation. The place is small and cozy, with an interesting creative menu (tasting menu 45EUR, plus 35EUR for wine pairing). Be ready for a culinary experience that lasts 2+ hrs. The staff is competent, with a great sommelier and friendly waiters. The best things I tasted were the codfish (tripes?) clothesline, the scallop sashimi with truffle oil, the smoked duck breast with wine jelly and topinambur puree. Everything was excellent (even the smallest details). The only thing I didn't "get" was the octopus with raw clams and basil "air": the ingredients were great but the design of the dish prevented my appreciation.
BOTTOM LINE: make a reservation and eat there. It's great for the the price and I ate better than at many 1 or 2-michelin stars restaurants.

“Not very tasty and rather overpriced.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013

I ate at 100 Maneiras during a vacation with a friend. Our sole purpose was to eat the best food we could find. We ate at beachside shacks, local favorites, workers' lunch buffets, Michelin starred fancy food, and 100 Maneiras. I have to say that 100 Maneiras was our most disappointing meal in 10 days of dining. Portugal, and particularly Lisbon, is a place where you can eat well for not much money and eat fantastically for very good value. Here, we ate the tasting menu with the "classic" wine pairings. Of ~7 dishes, only one made us comment on how tasty it was. The wine was well paired and well presented, so Kudos to the wine director for that one. The food was fancy without being original, portions were quite small, and the bill of 100 euros left me feeling that I hadn't gotten good value for my money. Service was also less warm/brusque than we had experienced at similarly priced restaurants.

I didn't have a bad experience, but you can do far better at a variety of different places in Lisbon.

“A Must Dining Experience in Bairro Alto”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

Tucked away on a little street in the Bairro Alto in Lisbon you will discover this amazing find of a restaurant that was the culinary highlight of a 10 day road-trip around Portugal. Matched with a wine-pairing,this multi-coursed fixed menu was a visual and taste extravaganza. Service was polished ,the wines well chosen to match each course, and each plate a success. We had a great time and the whole experience passed in a flash even though we were there almost 3 hours.

“Good but overpriced”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

We made a reservation for this restaurant at 7 pm. We were the first to arrive but the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The food is good, but not extremely special. You have restaurants in Lisbon, offering the same food for half the price. However, it is very nicely presented with a special touch of the chef. We took the premium wines (60€ pp if I recall it right) and we were slightly disappointed. Wines were good, but those were not premium wines. You could find some of those wines in the supermarket.

So all by all: very nice experience, great staff and good food, but prices are too high for the experience.

Thanks to Anthony Bourdain's travel program we dined at 100 Maneiras. We had high expectations and they were fully met.
