I've been staying at Roma since the 1990s. My wife is Portuguese, and upon our arrival in Lisboa before heading to our apartment in Porto, we always stay at Roma. I've brought my friends here, too. It's a basic and clean residencial located close to everything. The best deal in Lisboa.

My wife and I just spent 6 nights at the Roma and loved it. It was excellent value at 65 euros a night, including taxes and a decent breakfast. We asked for a room away from the main street and never had any problem with noise at night. The room was basic but clean. Most of the other guests we noticed were the mature type so noise was not a problem in general. The location is great as it is in the old district of Barrio Alto, and steps away from the metro, which can take you just about anywhere within minutes. There is a bus stop across the street for the airport bus too. I highly recommend this pension.

This residencial is located close to the tourist centre of Lisbon, which have little more than nice pracas and good bus/tram/metro communication to offer. BUT it has the wonderful castle with fun and good restaurants in the surroundings closeby (east), and on the other side, an interesting old town with bars and restaurants, museums and shops (west).

The Roma Residencial has a reception on the first floor and rooms up to the 4th. We stayed in 404. Quiet, small, clean and a big AC. Great if you don't mind the stairs (no elevator). Breakfast is ok, staff is really nice, but location is the best thing about it. If I go there on a budget holiday again, this might very well be the place I'll stay. But if I feel like more comfort in the hotel, I'll find another place and pay more.

We payed 60 euros a night for the room incl. breakfast.
