“Good accommodations, great location, very cool crowd”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012

I stayed two nights in one of the single private rooms (a little over 30 euros/night). The room was very cool, with heating, safe, etc. My room was next to the bathrooms, so at times I could hear traffic in the hallway, but I also know they offer free ear plugs. Everyone working here was very cool. I believe it is owned by a group of artists who also designed the place: my room (designed by Inés) was titled "white dreams" I believe, and had a Jack Kerouac quote on the wall.

The breakfast is included, and consisted of coffee/tea/juice, cereal, bread with spreads/jam/etc, and . . . crepes! A chef was constantly serving hot crepes. Delicious. The coffee and tea are available all day. The kitchen is free to be used, though a warning: when the chef is cooking in the kitchen, it cannot be used by guests, and often a chef cooks dinner. So, if you're planning on cooking dinner yourself in the kitchen, you might need to plan accordingly.

Great wifi, movie and book selection, and with lots of information on what to do. Located in the historic section, surround by shops and activities, as well as next to the Baixa/Chiado metro stop (though based on noise, no one would know.) Also had a bike rental service.

Awesome people, friendly staff, beautiful decoration, great location - just a step from the metro station, a mall and the bus stop for the Aerobus. You can also walk to several places, including Chiado and Bairro Alto. They have an excelent living room, with a complimantary porto wine. It is nice to have dinner, at least once, in the hostel. They prepare a menu (8 euros) with main course, desert and wine. Very good deal.

I have stayed once in a double with my husband - none of them have bathroom. But there are plenty of bathrooms in the hall and we havent had any troubles.
Another time I have stayed in a 4 bed dorm. It was also fine and clean.

Room Tip: In the weekends the lounge can get a bit noisy with guests having drinks at the bar. But it is good...

Great Location, Great Staff, Great People, Great Beds, Clean, Affordable, and Friendly!
The rooms all have different themes, very cool! Bathrooms and Kithcen were always sopotless!

Defintiely take the free walking tours, especially the one to Belem!

Will possibly go back to Lisbon just to stay here again!

They need to open locations everywhere!

First of all, this hostel has an amazing location right in the center of Lisbon, so at this location for hostel prices you've already got a steal; couple that with various freebies that are offered and you have a great place to stay only slightly marred by the sleeping conditions. Freebies include walking tours (not really our thing so I can't attest to how it was, but this sort of thing may appeal to you) as well as a breakfast with bread, tea, fruit juice, cereal, and most impressively - pancakes! A word of caution though in regards to the breakfast: they tell you that it goes from 8:30 till 10:30, but if you want pancakes you'll need to arrive by 9:30 or so as there aren't any left at 10:00. Furthermore, the 10 euros per person dinner that includes 3 courses and as much wine as you can drink is delicious and an incredible value; we didn't end up eating out a single night while in Lisbon.

The hostel itself is very clean and beautiful, and the individually artist-designed rooms actually made me want to see as many as I could - definitely well done. I already mentioned the friendly staff, but it really bears repeating: anything that you need you can just talk to them and they'll help facilitate it for you. The first night our room had a very noisy broken fan which we told them about the next day and it was replaced by that evening. The fan was definitely necessary though because it was still warm in September and opening the window was a nightmare - we were on the side of the building that the entrance is on and the amount of noise coming from the street all night was enough to even keep Jessica awake (who is normally an extremely heavy sleeper) when the window was open (and still provide occasional disturbances with the window closed).

For the last night we had to change rooms due to availability when we booked (still to a double room) and here we had a balcony door instead of a window, but the problem was that this balcony actually connected to one or two other guest rooms as well as the lounge area on our floor, which meant we couldn't leave it open otherwise anyone in the entire hostel could just walk into our room, which is certainly an inconvenience. Also, in general, all 4 of the beds we had weren't very comfortable as you could feel the springs in your back on each of the mattresses. Still, for a budget place to stay in Lisbon, you can't do better than this.

What a fantastic hostel.

Perfectly decorated, perfectly located, great for meeting people, helpful staff.

Had the hostel dinner which was cheap and delicious. The free breakfasts were gourmet!

The Belem walking tour was a little boring.. Would recommend Belem though!!

I booked a private room for myself (a 19yo single female) and was placed in the "Discovery" themed room. Absolutely beautiful! Beautifully decorated, a fan already in the room, and I felt completely safe. The bathrooms were jaw dropping - modern, a stone enclave that meets above the sinks, with a mood that reminded me of a spa. No loud, yelling people, adequate breakfast in the morning, a polite staff that spoke English very well. Loved it and I would go again just to stay there.
