“Great value, convenient location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

The hotel is located at the Marquez de Pombal circle. The entrance to the Metro is about a minute's walk from the hotel. From the airport we arrived to the hotel by Aerobus 1 which costs about 3.50 euros per person. (We decided against the Metro because we had two large suitcases). We spent five nights at the Fenix Garden. To return to the airport, since it was early morning, we opted for a taxi which was called by the Hotel staff. It costed 19 euros and took about 20 minutes to arrive with no traffic. The hotel rooms were clean, quiet and comfortable. The breakfast was very good and plentiful. The hotel reception staff was helpful, especially Claudia who always greeted us with a friendly smile. We used the Metro every day, always taking the blue (Azul) line two stops to Restauradores, or occasionally three stops to Baixa/Chiado. From these two locations, most of the tourist sites, activities and restaurants were easily accessible.

We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The room was modern, clean and very comfortable. The room was much better than another in Lisbon that charged 50E more per night. Our only complaint was there was no printer to print boarding passes.

I would highly recommend this hotel. We were in room 221 and it was a very nice room.

We stayed here for 3 nights on our family trip to Lisbon. Lucky for us, we upgraded to a terrace room for a minimal price, and were placed in, no doubt, the best room in the hotel, room 809! The view was Phanomenal! 8th floor and on the corner with a double sliding glass doors with a tremendous view of King Edwardo VII Park and the Marques De Pombal. It was across the street from the Metro station, and a great walk to Rossio station. It was also right across the street from the city double decker bus tour!
I mentioned to a hotel staff member in Porto that is where she stayed and she told me this is where she and her husband stayed on their honeymoon to Lisbon, and stayed in the same room. Lovely, beautiful, friendly helpful staff, decent breakfast, and convenient location! A must stay, I must say!

Stayed 2 nights here, ideal location next to the Metro for exploring Lisbon, Had a room overlooking the Park, comfortable clean and at a reasonable price.
Staff were polite and very helpful, our bags were delayed 24 hours and they were great telling us the best places to get the things we needed.
Breakfast was Ok but not the best.

HF Fenix Garden has an excellent price/quality ratio. All the previous reviews are correct. Location is the best. Good neighbourhood and clean. Even if there is a strike with the metro there are a lotof alternatives like: walk down town, down hill about 15-20 min. The bus 711 stops in front of the hotel. Hop on hop off across the street at the roundabout. There are aminities, every day good cleaning of room/beds/bathroom.

How to get to this hotel: from the airport take the metro. Walk by the long line for the taxidrivers and in the corner outside there starts the metro. There are several ways to buy the ticket. You need anyway the viacard (rechargeable cost €0.50) Then you can choose just to buy metro tickets. But they are just valid for the metro. I would suggest to put cash on the card. So you can use all of the public transportatin incl trams and elevators but not the train (different company) or you can buy daytickets €6 per day and than for 24h you can use the same public transportation as I just mentioned.

Than take the red line towards S. Sebastiao. At the cross wection with the yellow line at Saldanha take the blue line towards Santa Apolonia and exit at the next stop Marques de Pombal. When you go out you see the other HF Fenix Lisboa hotel, on the corner 50 meters up there is Fenix Garden.

Personally I did not like the Expo. But we did not visit the oceanario, the weather was too nice in october. We took the tram 25 instead of the very busy 28 close to the dock of the big ships. Visit the Estrala church than. And do not forget to go to Belem. Best part of Lisbon.

Enjoy your stay in FEnix Garden and Lisbon.

Only stayed one night, as flew in late and travelling to villa next day, but a great choice. Bright modern hotel. Rooms clean, beds soft and very comfortable. Buffet breakfast was very good. Had good selection of both hot and cold foods, plenty to set you up for the day. Little disappointed in bar, just a tucked away area, behind reception and didn't seem to have any staff. It would have been nice to have had a drink and a place to sit and relax after the flight. Lack of restaurant is also disappointing, as the sister hotel next door has a restaurant, which serves a buffet lunchtime and evening, but the food was quite unappetising, and poor selection when we went to look at it. Maybe a way to go in the future. Value wise it was very good.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
An urban haven where the commotion does not enter. To enjoy the city does not mean you need to do without some peace and privacy. The HF Fénix Garden provides the desirable paradox of staying in the heart of Lisbon and feeling protected from all stress. The referential acoustic insulation allows you to observe the city bustle from the window as if it is not real. A strange feeling of seclusion kept in the wide aisles and common areas where, even if the hotel is full, you can feel peace. The decoration and comfort of the HF Fénix Garden make you forget the city and even that you are in a three star hotel. Something that you will only remember on check-out. Very closed to the hotel is Marquês de Pombal, several of Lisbon's main points of interest and all the transportation networks in the city. The HF Fénix Garden offers several free services, such as Internet access in the entire hotel. But the most surprising offer is the feeling of staying in an oasis in the middle of the city. ... more   less
