There is a reason this little hotel is rated 'superb' in booking.com! From the moment we stepped in till the time we checked-out, we were afforded very warm, friendly and efficient service by the owners. Nothing was too much for them and every request was met with a smile and a genuine effort to please. From the lobby to the room, everything was very clean. The hotel is run by a young couple and the hospitality is such that you feel like you are a friend rather than a guest!
Our rooom had a balcony and was a fair size with twin beds, a wardrobe, a small working desk, 2 single sofas, 2 places to put our luggage, a flat-screen tv, a safe and extra pillows in the wardrobe. Bath towels, 2 bars of soap and 2 sachets of shampoo were provided, along with a hair dryer. Both the room and the bathroom were very clean. The beds were firm and the pillows fluffy. Although situated on the main avenue, it was very quiet and we almost didn't hear any noise from the neighbouring rooms. The air-conditioning, free wi-fi and hot water worked perfectly in our room. There were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room but upon request, the lady owner very graciously offered to provide us with a flask of hot water and cups. She told us that they were considering providing this extra amenity in the rooms in future.
We had the continental buffet breakfast in the hotel for an additional €4.00/person as breakfast wasn't included in our booking. Breakfast is served from 8.00 a.m. - 10.00 a.m. every day. There were buns, bread, cheese, ham, croissant, cakes, cereals, a variety of homemade jams, milk, bottled orange juice and different types of coffee and tea to choose from. There was even a toaster for us to toast our bread. For those who want a lighter breakfast or a snack, there is a cosy little lounge area with a vending machine which dispenses hot drinks and snacks.
The hotel is situated immediately after one of the exits of Fatima's south roundabout (the roundabout where the entry to the open air Way of the Cross is). It is a pleasant 7-minute walk down the main avenue to the Sanctuary (the entrance where a piece of the Berlin wall is exhibited). There are restaurants (including a Chinese one) and coffeshops within 5 minutes walking distance of the hotel but, with the exception of the Chinese restaurant, we found these restaurants overpriced. More affordable meals are found in the smaller restaurants closer to the Sanctuary so it is worth the time to browse a little and compare meal prices.
I really find it hard to believe that this hotel is rated a 2-star because the level of service and comfort beat that of many 3-star (and a couple of 4-star) hotels that I have stayed at. Our stay was so pleasant and relaxing that we were actually sad to leave. We are already planning a return stay in the near future, God willing, provided they are not fully booked! For €28/night, it is truly an excellent price-quality ratio which will be quite difficult to beat! Highly recommended!
Rooms at the back of the hotel have a view of the mountain in the distance (Serra de Aire).
