“Great hotel bad location ”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2014

Stayed in the Vivamarinha apartments, which form part of the hotel, with friends on a golf trip.

Due to incompetence on behalf of the travel agent ( not the hotel ) we were put in the apartments instead of the hotel. They are lovely though and our overall enjoyment was not spoilt.

The breakfast buffet, although not the biggest I've experienced, was one of the best I've had.

The staff were exceptional in every way. We used the shuttle service for all local trips including pick up and delivery to the airport.

The only downside of the hotel is the location. It is situated in the middle of nowhere so you will need other transportation to get around.

If I stayed in Cascais again I would choose a hotel nearer to the beach and the town.

My husband and I really enjoyed our 2 night stay at this beautiful hotel. The staff were very friendly and gave us a warm welcome before showing us to our room, which was exactly as expected based on pictures we saw at booking, and they honored our request for a quiet room on the top floor. In fact, we never heard a sound the entire time we were there. The room was really comfortable and clean, with a beautiful modern bathroom, kitchenette, and balcony.

The shuttle service to Cascais is quite popular but luckily we were able to book a spot the first evening of our stay, and to our surprise it was complimentary. We ate dinner in town, walked part of the way back along the coast, and then got a taxi which was only 7 euro. The next day we drove to Cascais; it's an easy 10 minute drive and there's free parking along the coast or metered parking in town. We were lucky enough to find metered spots twice, but there isn't much parking space and there were many people waiting for spots to open up. Parking at the hotel is no problem as there is abundant space.

Stayed for 7 nights bed and breakfast and have been well and truly looked after. The spacious rooms are very modern and well equipped and the resort is in pleasant grounds. Depending on your plans a car might be useful to tour the area. We were happy to use the complimentary shuttle service into Cascais which you can book at the hotel reception. Trains go to Lisbon frequently from Cascais which only takes about 35 minutes. The area around Cascais is beautiful and is set in the Sintra-Cascais Natural Parque. Quite by chance we found a boardwalk opposite Guincho beach set amongst the dunes. It is a place we hope to return to in the future. We would definitely stay at Vivamarinha again - in fact you can count on it! We have had a great time and the hotel and staff have exceeded our expectations.

Room Tip: Suites have modern kitchen facilities

This hotel was excellent at accomodating a family of five. Rooms were cleaned everyday and towels were replenished. The rooms were very spacious. It is conveniently located close to all the major site seeing. You do need a car, but everything is within 10-20 minutes away. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone travelling with young children and teens. We loved being out all day an then coming back to a clean space and hanging out playing cards and board games with the kids, or just watching tv and relaxing. Felt like a home away from home. I find most hotels in Europe don't quite measure up to the standard in Canada and the US, but this was quite nice. Not a 5 star, but definitely a 4.

Visited this hotel last year and was impressed and went back in February to be equally impressed. Groups of between 30 & 60 were catered for easily and the rooms are roomy and well equipped. Some are almost suites I guess these are the apartments with a kitchen and lounge area. The food was more than adequate, a plentiful buffet, one night we had a barbecue which was magnificent. Stays were in the Autumn & Spring but at no time did the hotel feel cold, as can happen at some souther European venues.

Room Tip: Go for a suite

We spent 2 fabulous weeks in this resort with our 7 month old baby boy. Rooms are clean and spacious, with a little yet sufficient kitchenette. Cosy restaurant, nice pool, and a big green area. There are a small supermarket and a bakery in a hotel a 5 min drive away, and 3 lovely beaches 15 min away by car.

Room Tip: All rooms on the ground floor have small private gardens.
