“Find the Museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2012

Pleasant seaside resort, rather overdone with boutiques and `costa` style bar/eateries. We most enjoyed the museum (Museu Biblioteca Conde Castro Guimaraes) in an extravagently decorated mansion built by an Irishman, and furnished with wonderful portugaese antiques (tiles, furniture, silver, pictures etc) It is free and a10 min walk round the back of the over-restored castle, set in lovely gardens with a tiny beach beside it. Lunch at Luzmar on the main road to the beach was good.

“A treasure not to be missed.”

Interesting, bright and spacious and well narrated. Not to be missed. Found it to be one of the most interesting museums / homes ever to have visited.
