“Great location and price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2012

This is a great hotel in the centre of Cascais right on one of the many beaches. It is 3 star so you get what you pay for but it is clean and the rooms are spacious. I suspect the suite we had on the 2nd floor was unnecessary and a double room might have been big enough for us and our 3 year old. The pool on the 5th floor is ideal to swim in the shade in the hot afternoons and the bar at the pool is ideal for drinks and snacks while you sunbathe. I'd like to see the carpets being changed or replaced with tiles.

This was the buy of the trip... EUR115/night... great location, right in the heart of Caiscais... if you're going to Caiscais, I highly recommend this. The free buffet breakfast is nothing to write home about, but a nice expresso on the patio with the fish boats in the harbour make up for it! Clean, friendly, courteous... and free wifi

Room Tip: definitely go for the extra few Euros and get an Ocean View - the rooms aren't much to look at...

just wanted to chill out for a week and chose the Baia both for the price and the location. my parents had stayed there many yrs ago. not a pretty hotel but the location is perfect the view of the bay from the bedrooms and the bar terrace is magical. the rooms are clean but very dated could do with updating. the only downside was the breakfast which is buffet style and very basic . coffee only from machines.juice very watery. very limited selection of breads and rolls,no selection of fruits, water melon! true there is a cooked option but not everyone wants that.they need to upgrade the quality and considering that their restaurant is very good quality they know how to do it.

Room Tip: any sea facing room is worth the extra

Thank you very much for your review. We are always looking to improve our service whenever possible and constructive criticism is always welcome. We have taken your suggestions into account and we have been renovating the rooms a few at a time, every winter in order to keep competitive. We are also improving our breakfast and hope you will be completely satisfied when you visit us again. I'm afraid there is little I can do to make the rooms bigger for the time being... :)
In any case, we hope to welcome you back again soon.

Great location and view! Right on the bay, with sea view. Not a luxury hotel but perfect for the price. Clean and comfortable. Rooms are small and bathrooms even smaller, but clean and functional.Good a/c and cable TV. Very close to shops, cafes and bistros pubs etc which are all around and behind the hotel. Train station is walkable if you don't have much luggage, or about 25mins by cab from the airport.
Nice food with old school career waiters in the restaurant. Buffet breakfast has ok food with quite a good choice of items.
Staff in reception helpful and speak English. Tours available - make sure you go to Sintra, gorgeous day trip!
Would recommend and have stayed here before. Make sure you get a seaview room, not much more money but absolutely worth it! ,

Room Tip: Make sure you get a seaview!

Just got back from week long trip for the Moto GP at Estoril. Brilliant location, room on first floor with lovely sea view. Close to everything, including shops restaurants, bars, railway station etc. Totally agree with other reviews about friendliness of staff. Clean room, comfortable bed, despite being on first floor did not find the room too noisy but resort was not overly busy, so could be a problem in high season for some. Food in restaurant very good. Sun lounge and covered lap pool on the roof with brilliant views of the resort. Would recommend this hotel and certainly return there if/when in Cascais again.

the hotel is in an excellent position in cascais, not far to go away within walking in cascais. the hotel is clean, very well kept, the staff are good on reception, the bar staff are abit slow at serving you but not bad really, the same staff in restaurant serve you with bread and cheese witch is add to you bill and not free. as well if they put smoked ham they charge you with telling you.ALSO the drinks can vary in price from each staff that serves you, watch out no consistency. the rooms are clean and good and if you have a sea view excellent. Only problem is i think some of the door closers on the other rooms are not working , they bang really loud. not good early in mornings.
the area on the roof is excellent , with the pool up there to , a excellent view.
Also if you have a car, there is a carpark under hotel , which you are charged 10 euros aday for this. best price around though.
Only one complaint really, if it is a complain, THEY SHOULD LEAVE THE COFFEE MACHINE out and on after breakfast till about 12 pm or 1pm,
and dont asked for a latte , you get a cup of hot milk, its a goaloa , lol

Room Tip: on the 4 th floor seaview.

Thank you very much for your review. I have taken into account your constructive criticism and will do my best to improve your stay in the future. It is normal to charge for the "Couvert" in restaurantys in Portugal. You can have just bread and butter, or add cheese and ham or some places even prawns or mussels. It is important, though, to let people know that they will be charged for this. Especially tourists that might not be accustomed to this. I do, however, find it strange that you were charged different prices for the same drinks. I would very much like more information about this if you wouldn't mind e-mailing me about it on joaocoruche@hotelbaia.com. Please always ask for a receipt!
We hope to welcome you back again in the near future and to have improved since your last stay.
Best regards
