“Luxury golf location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2011

Excellent new hotel near Cascais and a lovely comfortable environment. We stayed with 1 child in a spacious quiet room with views over the golf course. Amazing bathroom! Delicious buffet breakfasts and a good choice of eating that includes the Quinta da Marinha hotel which is on the same site and about 5 minutes walk or a short courtesy bus ride away. Frequent buses or a short taxi ride into nearby Cascais if you don't have a car. Enjoyable golf on site and a smart new clubhouse serving a tasty and varied menu. The staff throughout the hotel and golf are very friendly and helpful. It suited us perfectly.

I wasn't staying at the hotel but I had been tipped by a travel agent, VIA travel to go and see this dreamy new hotel in Cascais.
I can asure you I was not disappointed. The total atmosphere is dream-like. Helpful staff showed me around and made my spa experience unforgetable.
The spa treatment, relaxing back massage and the helpful reception staff both at boht the hotel and spa have my very best recommendations. I had lunch at the golfclub restaurnat and there as well I was greeted and treated very well.
This will definitely be a place i would like to return if not for business maybe for golf.

Very dreamy place..

This property is owned by the same folks who developed the nearby Quinta da Marinha so one unadvertised bonus is that residents of one have access to the facilities of all group resorts. While the focus of the properties is golf, the beach is very close by (not quite a comfortable walk, but less than 5 minutes away in a car) and there are a multiplicity of pools to choose from, including specific child-friendly ones. At the Onyria, there are chlorinated indoor-outdoor pools at the spa and an ocean-fed seawater pool with wading area for younger kids - so you are really spoilt for choice.

Food options are excellent, but pricey (comparable to other 5-star resorts in Europe, but very obviously more expensive in relation to local establishments). The breakfast spread is excellent both in terms of diversity and more importantly quality, although there is no a la carte option - buffet only.

We stayed at the Villas, which while spacious and furnished to a very high standard (Citterio couches anyone?) are clearly targeted to a different class of guest than the hotel - longer stay guests who drive and bring their own provisions. There is a kichen, with all the utensils, but the fridge is empty and there is no complimentary coffee / tea, while the hotel rooms get nespresso machines. The villas are more private, but are set away from the hotel - not really an issue unless you forget something in the villa while at the pool or if the weather is poor.

Strangely, the villas also have 2 showers but no bath, so slightly less convenient if you have young children or fancy a soak. We understand that some of the suites in the hotel have outdoor hot tubs and feel that this was a missed opportunity perhaps in the spec.

Service was warm, professional and excellent. Language proficiency is not an issue as many of the staff we interacted with very easily switched from Portuguese to Spanish to English to French etc.

In terms of overall location, the hotel is well located for both Cascais, Estoril and Guincho and the coastal drive is beautiful at dawn and dusk, with spectacular sunsets. There are lots of great seafood restaurants perched along the coast, including one owned by the hotel group - these are all in a similar price bracket, but worth trying for the excellent fresh seafood and the amazing views.

All in all, a great holiday and one we will definitely consider again. Next time, perhaps in one of the larger suites...

Room Tip: Villas are secluded and spacious but have no baths and lack hotel room amenities

Stayed in one of the Villas. Excellent small townhouse, well furnished in a minimal style with a good service. Independent from the Hotel, which means that on a rainy day it can be a problem to go to breakfast, which by the way is superb. Only sugestions would be a microwave and reconsidering the bathroom. Sometimes to modern is a problem: no place to hang a towel, water leaking out of the shower, no slippers...etc.

Recently returned from a 5 day stay a Onyria with my eive and two lide. The hotel is located in a very quiet area, and also very beautiful We stayed in a Vila with two bedrooms, and it was very spacious and very week furniture. The decoration is very minimalist but gorgeous. and very spacious. The restaurant "story" and the bar "drop" were also very nice, and the food was lovely. The pools are great, and very nice fr children. I must compliment all the staff for their sympathy and welcoming. They are quiet efficient and very helpful.
There is only one negative point, no room-sevice fr the vilas. I sincerely don't understand. A hotel with this category should offer a simp,e thing as room-sevice 24h for all the rooms, including vilas. And the vilas are so lose to the main building...
Anyway, we loved it, and probably will return.

My husband and I recently returned from a 10 day stay at this hotel. The hotel surroundings have a very relaxing and Zen feel about them. The room was gorgeous and very spacious. We ate at the restaurant twice during our stay and were incredibly impressed by the food - and very surprised it was not busier. However, more than all of these things put together, what impressed us most was the level of service on offer. All the staff were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable and relaxing. This is a hotel that provides a personal service. From Guest Services, to the pool attendants, all staff were not only friendly but extremely helpful. We thank them for making our stay so 'dreamlike'!

Room Tip: We had a room facing the golf course and this was lovely and secluded.
