“Finally a nice Italian restaurant!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

Went there the first time with reservations. Seemed a tourist trap but after the meal i was very happy with it!

Started with a mozarella salad witch was very nice and fresh.
Followed with a black pasta dish with prawns witch was delicious! Minimalistic with great ingredients and perfect flavour.
Ended with a Chicken breast with sauce, roasted potatoes and vegetables. Every item on the dish had perfect quality and was perfectly cooked.

Only downside is that we went on summer peak and with a medium-small room and open cuisine made it very hot.

“Ordinary experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2012

We found it difficult to select a restaurant in Cascais because most of them looked like tourists’traps. We ended up in Aromi for lack of alternatives. I think this is supposed to be an Italian restaurant, but there is not much of Italy about it. The menu offers “Italian revisited”, meaning some very common Italian dishes, such as carpaccio, served in an "imaginative" way. We ordered carpaccio to share as starter and then a chicken salad and scaloppine which were served with pasta (absolutely not the Italian way) + a side of unremarkable roasted potatoes. We drank a bottle of equally unremarkable “vinho verde”. A visit to the toilets proved them clean. The restaurant itself is small and it felt suffocating because of the heat, the noise and the crowd. The final bill was under 50 Euro. Nondescript experience.
P.S. in case somebody might resent my comment about scaloppine, please note I am Italian and in Italy pasta is a "primo" - a dish served on its own, dressed with sauce - and meat is a "secondo" served AFTER the pasta, with a "contorno" of vegetables or potatoes, but not with pasta.

Dear Madame,
As you noted we do not employ a doorman to beg for business.
The menu is displayed outside and explaines each dish in detail. I presume that you chose our establishment after having read the menu board. If not then may I suggest that you not only avoid establishments which try to drag you in but also read the menus of those who do not.
It states very clealy that the scallopini is served with spaghetti if this is NOT what you wanted then you should have ordered what you did, and you would have been prepared for you with pleasure.
After reading your comments lesson on how italian cusine should be served I am surprised at what you ordered.
Who looking for an Italian experience would order carpaccio and chicken salad, vino verde and scallopini with roasted potatoes!!!
When you could have ordered for example, Cous Cous Sicilianio, Carpaccio, Saltimbocca with a Pino Grigio and still spent less than 50€
Yes the restaurant was noisy it happened to be full!
It may have been warm it was about 32 degrees centigrade outside and had been for a week or more. The airconditioning was turned on in the rear half of the restaurant at a temp of 24 so as not to chill out the customers, in the front the window and door where wide open.
Again it was your choice not ours that you choose to enter.
Formal Italian dining in a quiet atmoshere at the budget you had is Impossible in Cascais and probably anywhere else so compromise is required.
How satisfying is it to criticise an establishment which tries its best offer good value for money in a friendly customer orientated and relaxed enviroment once you have left the premises and made no comments to the staff when ordering or paying that you where indeed dissatisfied.
A final comment the Carpaccio as depicted in your photograph was NOT served as you have shown. It was served flat in thin slices, What you depict is after you have curled it yourself.
I can accept honest constructive critisism but not this!

“Nice restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

Overall we enjoyed Aromi, the food was freshly cooked and good quality, the staff were very efficient and friendly. On the night we went there the pizza oven was not working, which was disappointing but the starters and pasta we had were first class.

“Cozy little restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

You have dozens of choices in Cascais which is a busy tourist town with lots of English speaking visitors. We found this place to be exceedingly friendly and inviting after suffering a number of waiters trying to pull us into their establishments. The food and wine are good but the gracious owner (manager?) made us feel extremely welcome. There aren't many tables and we were on a list for a table for 5. He actually us came out and found us on the street when our table was ready (no pagers in Portugal) and then passed out complementary Mimosas as an apology for the wait.
