“Enjoy a bica (coffee) and Pasteis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

Although it might be busy, you will often find a table quickly in one of the many rooms. Enjoy the coffee and the pasteis.

“The factory is like a museum inside!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

This amazing and incredibly old factory of pasteis, unique to Belen and with a unique secret recipe is a MUST!

Not only the fresh, warm and crunchy pasteis are amazing and unique, but the whole factory is like an old museum, with old cash desks exposed inside and the tiles covering the walls date as early as the 17 century.

The place is gigantic, with many big and small little rooms where you can take a coffee and enjoy the pastries.

You can also see how they are made through a glass wall in the factory.

Beside the pastries of been, you can find other sweets and Porto Wine.

“A must in Belem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

This place you have to see and experience! There are several rooms and nice, busy feeling, but you are served well. We took pasteis, coffee and port and enjoyed this place in a very good price.

“An icon in the city!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

For over a century this place holds the best kept secret on how to cook the PASTEL DE NATA our Portuguese world known pastry. In fact they must have invented the Pastel which was originally called "pastel de Belem", this being the actual location of this antique Coffee shop, close to the Jeronimos Monastery in a beautiful part of the riverside old city.
The place in itself is old style, with fantastic blue azuleijos pannels on the walls worth a visit on their own. There is plenty of place to sit but seldom an empty table as it is always crowded with locals, students and tourists. But you basically come here to eat or buy the famous cakes and they are there on the back of the counter in huge trays coming directly from the bakery and emitting the most delicious smell, truly IRRISISTIBLE! Add cinnamon and white powered sugar and bite away, but remember: one bite and you are hooked for life!

“The tastiest ever tart that not going to be missed!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012 via mobile

Can easily access the this cafe by tram as the stop is just in front of this cafe. You will see a long queue in front of the restaurant mean you are in the right place. Extremely crowed all the time from morning to afternoon. We bought the tart and bought a drinks from the Starbucks next to this cafe and enjoy they. In this hot summer with the Starbucks frapucino and crispy tast and aircond surrounding is just awesome. Or you can bought the tart and sit on the park across the road of the cafe. The tart is really crispy from outside. And you can feel the fresh and hot from the oven. The crispy ever tart I had and never be the same as other stall. Must try!!!
