Our oldest got hooked on Roman history after doing a school project so, since we were staying nearby we decided to have a look. Some Roman sites I've visited have a ditch with a board showing an artists impression of what it might have looked like. This place is very different. There's so much of the remains still visible that it doesn't need any fancy graphics to fill in the gaps. With a camera each, our 5 and 8 year old spent a good couple of hours exploring. Kids got in for free so at only 4 Euro's each for the adults it's good value too. February is a bit early in the season for tourism in Portugal so the restaurant wasn't open. Plenty of great value cafe's in nearby Coindeixa though.
As with a lot of attractions in Portugal, signage is a bit sparse. You need to keep your eyes peeled if your driving there!
