“A bit scruffy outside, a great value inside, a convenient location, a nice town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

Although not impressive from the outside, this Comfort Inn is a great bargain in a convenient location, with pleasant rooms and a friendly staff.

It is on the main business street, Rua de Fernao Magalhaes, about 10 minutes south of the bus station (look for the Neptune Café next to the entrance) and about 10 minutes north of the train station “A”. Near the train station is Largo (Plaza) Portagem, between the charming old town and the main bridge (Santa Clara).

For only 40 euros (about 52 USD) per night I got a comfortable room with two double beds and a balcony with distant views of the river. Best of all, the breakfast buffet was included and is quite extensive, including hot foods, fruit, cold foods, etc.

The staff is very friendly and helpful, especially the evening shift front desk clerk. There is a small mezzanine lounge with vending machines and a desk-top computer with free internet access for guests (in addition to the hotel’s wi-fi).

The façade of the hotel is a bit scruffy and the entry is somewhat hidden by shops, but this hotel offers everything you will need for a pleasant and very reasonably priced stay in enjoyable Coimbra.

I would happily stay here again. It was the best hotel value in my month-long vacation.

Room Tip: Rooms toward the street are probably noisy. Rooms to the back are quiet and have balconies.

This hotel is located near the Coimbra railway station. Though a little small, the rooms were clean and functional. It's not exactly in the centre of Coimbra, but Coimbra is very small and nothing is too far away. Good value for money. Friendly hotel with functional rooms.

We got a room on the 5th flr with a nice view to the other side of the river. Great room, bright and clean with a very reasonably priced mini bar. Breakfast was excellent! The small bar in the hotel is nothing more than a lounge with vending machines but it was very comfy. There was snack food available from vending machines also. This is a fabby hotel, I'd return without hesitation! Roughly a 20 minute walk from Coimbra B railway station.

Rooms are spacious rooms and very clean, staff very kind (the receptionist gave me some good advises), generous breakfast (but breakfast room too small).

The distance to the Coimbra centre is very good, but the hotel mis located on very busy street, so if you keep windows open could be loud... the aircon did good so I closed them and no sound was heard.... Private parking next to the hotel have fair prices for the hotel guests.

Room Tip: rooms away from the Avenida Fernao Magalhaes could be more quiet....

Good value for a short stay. Staff were very friendly and eager to help. Certainly not a luxury hotel, but great value for the price we paid.

Simple but very well located hotel. It definitely needs renovation. The rooms are huge. The staff is smiling and helpful.
From the bathroom we could hear other guests thru the ventilation .
We had a room at the back of the hotel so the view is not that nice.
Bed was comfortable, carpet was dirty. Breakfast was basic, orange juice was awful.
I recommend it only for the location & the price (€65 /night inc. breakfast & parking for a junior suite!)
