“good place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

A well located hotel in town center, near the Santa Joana museum and the curch Sé, five minutes walk to the river canal.
The rooms are good spacious. The restaurante was an excellent surprise. Good value for money, friendly and helpful saff. Is a place worth staying.

Very central - best location in Aveiro! The staff is very helpful and very friendly ... I didn't pay anything for WiFi ... I always stay here when I visit Aveiro! Yes, the hotel is a bit older ... a bathroom renovation would certainly be rejoiced ... but the prices can't be beat! I think it is worth the price - who spends the whole day in the hotel? Besides, the balconies (and the view) more than make up for the bathroom. The towels are great and the dinner is superb! Great price salads, made with love :) The breakfast is good quality - if one is there during the season then you get great fruits with breakfast ... I can highly recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a large balcony (highest level available) ... great view! I have stayed here on...

Service in reception was poor if non-existing, but did not depend on language barrier but attitude. Old interior (and not in that nice, romantic way), everything was from the Eighties. Breakfast the same as in all hotels in Portugal. No free wi-fi, only an ancient computer by the elevators. The hotel might have been grand in its heyday, but that was thirty years ago. The only really good thing was its central location.

This hotel is just blocks from the Aveiro canal. We had reserved directly with the hotel by email in March for the September trip and asked for double beds, not twins, and non-smoking rooms with balconies. We got twin beds, no balconies and rooms that didn't say non-smoking, though neither room smelled of smoke. The man at the desk was a bit abrupt, but had excellent English. A free computer with internet access was provided for guest in a space near the elevators.

As it turned out, our rooms were large with pretty views onto the cobbled street below. Also, the included breakfast buffet was beautifully presented and served in the wood-panelled, high-ceilinged large hotel dining salon. A black-coated silent waiter quickly whisked away empty plates at our cloth-covered table with a single rose.

I really enjoyed this hotel for its old-world feel, and would stay again. The 63 euro price with breakfast was one of the best values of our Portugal trip.

It is a cheap hotel located in the city centre.
The room and the bathroom were a little bit outdated, but it has a beautiful vintage common room for breakfasts.
One of the best towels I ever used in a hotel.

We stayed there in April 2011. It is an average Hotel in a good location and at 45 Euro for a room including breakfast for two people it was by far the best deal on this trip.

Location was good to get into the old town and the pedestrian zone is close. Some English spoken by staff and they gave us a good price on a room that had an attached sitting room and a balcony you could pitch a tent on. The view from the balcony was great as well and we could see the lagoons from where we were. Staff really appeared to be trying to accomodate the needs of their various guests and people appeared to be satisfied at breakfast. There was also a computer available for guests at no extra cost. Parking was a bit tricky, but they mapped it out for us well. It was also easy access to the train station for an easy day trip in to Porto if you didn't want to drive there.

Room Tip: Ask for views of the lagoons.
