We had made reservations at the Barracuda, because we wanted to be on a beach, but still be minutes from Ponta del Gada. We did not like our initial room, so they gave us the room next door. These rooms were downstairs, but still above the beach. The corridor was dark and dungeon like. My wife did not like the smell of the room, the bathroom especially. She swore she saw mold next to her side of the bed. The mops and pail were left in the kitchen. I put them in the closet, with old, broken and rusty hangers. The tiny kitchen did have many amenities, including a microwave.
There is no air conditioning in the rooms. The woman at the desk brought us a fan.
We had a porch to sit and enjoy the sea.
The WiFi was free, and parking is free. You would have a very difficult time finding a place to park on a busy beach day, maybe needing to park a mile away.
The bathroom was so so, with e world's tiniest soaps, and a shower head that was falling off the wall. There was not enough room to place all your toiletries.
The wooden furniture was scratched and worn. If you wanted a lounge for the beach, you had to carry these huge, plastic, falling apart, filthy lounges yourself down a flight of stairs, and return them.
We checked out of the Barracuda after one night. We did not have to pay a penalty. We did come back to the area on occasion to enjoy the beach.
Prior to checking out, we had reserved a room at the Marine Atlantico in Ponta del Gada. You can read my review on that hotel as well.
Sorry, but I cannot recommend this hotel, although many people have.
