“Clean, Functional, Excellent Value Hotel with Great Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2014

We got a room at the furthest point from the street, facing the courtyard. With the exception of the odd love song from a tom cat with chewed up ears there really was no noise at all. There wasn't a fridge in the room, but when we asked at reception one appeared for no extra cost. The same person on reception also kindly booked our meals in Lisbon for the next leg of our journey, and she really went out of her way to make the guests feel welcome. Our room was large, clean and had comfortable beds. A bit more thought about the design of the bathroom might have helped, but then it wasn't much bother. The breakfast was goodish, although it might be improved by using some of the fresh products from the bakery next door, and not serving cold scrambled eggs. Coffee was nice though.
If we returned to Ponta Delgada, and the prices hadn't changed that much, we would stay here again.

Room Tip: Probably not a place to stay if not sure on your feet. There is no lift and the cobbled, narrow pave...

I stayed there for 4 nights, these are my facts.

POSITIVE:
* very clean hotel and rooms
* big room
* helpful staff (they all speak English)

NEGATIVE:
* no WIFI in the rooms
* furniture and other equipment all around hotel is old and outdated
* not much choice at breakfast table
* my room had a musty smell all 4 days, you cant get rid of it!!
* quite a walk to centre (especially if you walk up and down a few times per day)

Room Tip: Try to get a room in the first floor.

Great hotel for relaxion. Kind staff and good breakfast and cleaning. Situation is perfect for walkingtrips to town and because of narrow street, no heavy traffic.
Suggests for creatings are fridgerators/minibars in the rooms, bathrooms airchange and watermixers, which are from British majority.
Old fashioned doors were closed noisy, so some stoppers or doorpumps suggested to install.

Room Tip: The experience of the rooms is only of one, but the hotel seems to be situated on deasant state in t...

if your room is on that side of the building. Wifi only in common areas. Some very nice staff, unfortunately there's always a rotten apple.

There are better choices than this dated hotel. Common areas, breakfast buffet all fine.

Room Tip: If you MUST stay here ask for a room as far away from the all night bakery as possible as it is nois...

One of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. Staff is very helpfull. Good location - 10 minutes walk to bus stop, shopping area, restaurants etc. Very quiet neighbourhood.
Breakfast buffet might be more diverse, but it is good enough to start a day.

Room Tip: Rooms with even numbers (starting from 216) on the second floor have better view. Their windows face...

Stayed here for 5 nights at the end of a two week holiday. Well appointed, spacious ground floor room with small terrace. No wi-fi in room but readily available in the public areas. The hotel is situated on a narrow street, which is used as a rat-run by local traffic coming on and off the motorway. This made walking into town a bit of a white-knuckle experience, but once in the hotel you would never know that the busy road was there. Hotel supposedly serves dinner, but in reality this doesn't seem to be encouraged, and despite the friendly barman, the bar itself was deserted and unatmospheric. Buffet breakfast was adequate but a bit limited. Very clean, good parking facilities and helpful, friendly staff. A decent place to stay in Ponta Delgada.
