Had 3 fantastic rides here with all the horses being very friendly, safe and extremely well cared for. The ride leaders are very chatty and always making sure that everyone is ok and were more than happy to give suggestions on where to visit in the area. I even managed to get my 70year old mum out for an hours ride with them and they were fantastic putting her on a very safe horse and going at the speed she was happy with. The 3 hour ride has amazing views and some lovely canters which I thoroughly enjoyed. I definitely recommend a visit and they supply everything including hats, boots, chaps and body protectors.
After reading all the good reviews we thought we would try this place for horse riding and it didn't disappoint.... Hanna who took us out was lovely & chatty and was always checking everyone was OK...the silves countryside was beautiful on horseback and I felt confident on the lovely snowy (the horse) I would definitely recommend this place... Everyone there was so nice and helpful
Beautiful views over the Silves countryside in the summer.
We went on a hour long hack, the staff were brilliant and accommodated both standards of riding ability really well by giving myself a more fiery pony and my partner who has never ridden, a lovely relaxed horse who was so confidence giving he's even said he'll have another go!
Thank you so much for a brilliant afternoons riding, we will be back & recommending the centre to my friends/family!
Absolutely a wonderful experience. Lovely lady and even more lovely horses :) Little bit hard to find (hidden in an orchard of oranges :) but totally totally worth it. It is my go to place next time :)
Looked at there web site and it looked very well , easy enough to find just outside silves the place was very tidy , well maintained and all the horses looked like they were well cared for . We got lovely horses Guinness and snowie, I'm not an experanced rider and a little nervous but the horses easy to ride and never felt nervous at all , Emily was our guide she was very helpful and friendly i would highly recommend to anyone interested in this kind of adventure
The things I loved the most about my time here;
* Making friends with Hanna and the other girls, they are all so friendly and welcoming (and even taught me a few dutch words along the way - 'dankjewel'!)
* Falling for the beautiful Diablo - who took such good care of me the whole time, he's very calm natured and seems to know when his rider is less experienced.
* The beautiful and peaceful scenery, the eucalyptus trees, the trickling streams, the blue skies and sunshine, the shimmering lakes and wonderful fresh air.
* It's lovely to see how well cared for the horses are in this stable - it's always clean and tidy and its obvious that everyone who works there does so for the love of the animals and the enviromnent.
So a little bit more about my experience...
As a family we return to the Aglarve every few years and this time I was looking for somthing different to do to add a bit of variety and stumbled across the riding centre after browsing Trip Advisor for activities in our vicinity.
It had been close to 20 years since I last rode (as a young teenager) - so I was a little nervous to return to riding after so long without any experience. I decided in advance of our trip, to to visit several times throughout the duration of our stay, to gradually re-build my confidence and they kindly put a package together of referesher lessons and hacks, based on my budget, experience & confidence level.
Hanna was assigned to me for all of my lessons and hacks and we also had one of the work-experience girls from the stables along for some of the hacks too. I always rode the gentle Diablo (who totally stole my heart & I miss him so much already).
On my first day, Hanna immediately put me at ease back in the saddle, we had a brief half an hour lesson, followed by a 1 hour hack, she was always checking with me how I was doing and always asked before we tried a trot or a canter, to make sure I was comfortable with this. By the end this hack, I was back to a canter on Diablo without any trouble and my confidence was coming back. Over the next few days sessions we built up to the final two hour hack (which I absolutely loved!) - the route we took, went as far as a look-out point where you can see out over the lake and there were lots of opportunities for longer canters along this hack, which by my 4th days session I was much more confident with and throughly enjoyed. On the return stretch, when Hanna said to me are you ready for your final canter - my answer was no, I was enjoying it too much for it to be over already.
So in summary - I absolutely loved this trip, I made some fantastic new memories and some new friends too, I am so thankful for the time I spent here and I will be sure to return for at least another couple of hacks on our next return trip to the Algarve!
Thankyou Hanna and Diablo! xx
