We asked our taxi driver, Paul, where we should go for a proper Portuguese meal. This restaurant was his first choice, although it was some 20 mins drive from our base in Carvoiero. Having visited the coffee shop at the back of the church in Silves (on a Sunday) we were advised to get to this restaurant early. When we turned up at 12 - we weren't quite sure what to make of the place at first, as it is a short drive out of town, and from the exterior didn't look impressive. First impressions inside weren't good either - a huge restaurant, with tables lined up in long rows, unoccupied. However, we kept the faith and Paul was not wrong! We were so pleased we got there when we did as the restaurant was full by 1pm with Portuguese folk - always a good sign - so I will say no more! Paul even told us what to eat which was wild boar and black pork and we were not disappointed. Eight of us eat for Eur150 total (main course, 7 people drinking moderately, some starters and some desserts) which we felt was very good value for money.
