“Excellent Hotel to Roam to the best surf spots in Algarve”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

We went there mid November for a surf weekend trip with a friend. The Hotel is extremely nice yes it could benefit from Wifi in the rooms but honestly given the time we spent away from the Hotel it did not matter at all. I do not agree with the slightly negative remarks that you may read regaridng the rooms not being of outmost standard. The rooms were very comfortable and the fact that each had a small balcony was very useful to dry our wetsuits. The staff was extremely helpful in indicating the best restaurants or places to go. If you are onto surfing it s great to have a surfshop surfschool literally next to the hotel with also extremely helpful staff telling you where you can surf depending on conditions.
We made good use of the indoor swimming pool and Sauna as well and it is nice to hit that after a long day surfing.
The staff were also extremely helpful and let us used the showers on the last day before we hit the road back which was greatly apreciated.
The bar and the breakfast buffet were amazing and had enough of choice for all tastes and allowed to stock up before hitting the road / surf. The view of the harbour sea with the sunrise is extremely enjoyable. The only downside is that the bar was only open in the evening and the coffee served at the breakfast buffet was not the best but the cafe next to the hotel could provide you with a nice espresso if lik us you are caffeine addicts.
As this was during the lower end of the season the rooms were extremely affordable and extremely good value ffor money. I would definitely return there with my wife and/or kids.
Sagres is an extremely laid back place and from what we saw this is probably the best hotel in the Sagres Area. From there it is very easy to explore the different surf exposed beaches.
Very enjoyable very relaxing setting would definitely recommend if you plan to go to the area.

Room Tip: The harbour sea view is a nice extra to have if you spend a lot of time outside the hotel not necess...

Memmo Baleeira is a nice surprise in western Algarve.
Starking from the welcome reception (we feel imediatly we are at home) and finishing in the very nice rooms, where we can enjoy the fantastic Algarve sunset and sunrise.
The views from the rooms are fantastic, as the ocean in Sagres area.
The hotel bar have fantastic GIN menu and the terrace (also in winter with the heaters they have) with fantastic views is the right place to enjoy a drink and see the sunset.
To return for sure!

Great hotel, amazing sea view, inside and outside pool, friendly staff. Kids welcome, even in the inside pool and the hotel restaurant. We had a really good surprise wen the gentleman who was serving us in the restaurant took our young daughter in a "tour" on the back office of the restaurant, she loved it and we had a little moment just for us. Great decor all over, and the anual event around surf art and its lifestyle is really good also!

Room Tip: The sea rooms are worth the extra money ;)

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Memmo Baleeira Hotel. Room was clean and beautiful and I felt at home immediately - I even took a bath in the nice soaker tub, something I rarely feel comfortable enough to do at a hotel.

In the morning, the sunrise was spectacular! Breakfast was delicious as well. And staff was charming and seemed genuinely friendly.

My only small complaint - wifi in room would be nice. However sitting in the beautiful lounge overlooking the sea while sipping wine and using the lobby wifi was not really torture :-)

The views from almost everywhere in the hotel are gorgeous. The grounds are immaculately kept and the pools, spa and lounges are lovely. The rooms are good value but prices in the bar and restaurant are not. There is no excuse for not having wi-fi in the rooms (unless to drive you to the overpriced bar). It is not ideal to have no tea or coffee in the room and when they do not, it is downright cheeky to charge €3 for a small bottle of water from the mini-bar. The window in our room whistled very loudly on and off during the night from the wind another couple said theirs did too. The breakfast was good.
So, in short, a hotel with huge potential that is not fully realised.

I spent a week in Memmo hotel while I attended a workshop retreat in that area. My first impression what of a cool hotel, clean cut, simple and modern. But, once I went to my room and checked out things in more detail, I realized that almost everything in the hotel is the cheapest materials the could possible get. In my room, the floor was lifting up in a couple of places, the glass window of the shower was not well secured on the wall, the shower was a piece of plastic with aluminum paint which was already falling apart, etc. I really had the impression I was surrounded by plastic and glue. The doors make a lot of noise, you could hear when your neighbors arrive and every time they use the WC.
I believe a 4 starts hotel should have a bit more quality.
Breakfast was ok and service very average.
The good thing was the sea view I had! :)

Lovely setting. Very good value for money. Great communal lounge area with lots of space, a bar and amazing views. The restaurant dinner and breakfast was nice, although we ate at a'sagres on our second night and it was great authentic Portuguese with lovely service. I'd recommend eating there instead of the hotel.
The indoor pool area is great to have in iff season, but make sure you book your 30 minute time slot. We enjoyed visiting the beaches around the area. The coastline is spectacular.
