“Way overpriced for what it is…”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

My boyfriend and I had a painful road trip along the coast of Spain during busy summertime, so we decided to book a lush spa hotel stay in Portugal, away from the crowd. What we thought is was gonna be a fantastic chilled time it ended up with a "back parking" view room and a very expensive bill. The hotel was so packed that we struggled finding a free table for breakfast. The pool was full of screaming kids and the staff was not particularly friendly. We complained for 3 days, but because we paid in advance we decided to complete our stay.
The last day they gave us a lovely ocean view room, which it was much better of course….but still way to expensive for what the place offers! To be honest the view from the front garden and the surrounding landscape are stunning...

Room Tip: if you decide to book it make sure to ask for a room with a view...otherwise you can end up wit love...

We stayed at Memmo Baleeira in january, and were very happy with our choise. The room had a beautiful view, and we really enjoyed relaxing in the lobby area. Hotel staff was very kind. Only downside was that the pool and spa area were shut - apparently a recurrent complaint!

We left London in need of a nurturing, beautiful, quiet place and boy did we find it in abundance here. Sagres is so sleepy and laid back, perfect for us escapees.
The hotel is beyond words.
The soft furnishings, colours, design, lighting, art, all so warm, stylish and peaceful. The hotel is a joy to wander around and the lobby entrance is a subtle cool invite into a special world.
The superb indoor pool, Turkish bath, sauna, all used by us every day made us feel relaxed and content. Sometimes we felt we were the only ones here.
Great healthy food, free use of hotel bikes, walks to the amazing beaches, all this and we didn't want to venture too far away from hotel bliss in our 4 days here.
The art installation on the windows in the lounge area says it all, but I don't agree - This hotel is a home... I would move in if I could.
Tomorrow is a long place, was the only thing keeping me going on our departure.
Thank you all for a magical stay.
Beautiful.

We stayed at this hotel as a bit of a splurge on an otherwise uber-budget conscious trip. The room was expensive and small but had all the mod cons that on our driving holiday around Spain we had gotten used to doing without. The town itself was pretty run down but the cliffs and the ocean views more than make up for things - and the hotel uses the views on the common property to full effect. Worth the money, despite the pokey room size of the basic room.

Room Tip: Splurge on more than a basic if you can - ours was definitely pretty small for the price!

We stayed here for one night we live fairly locally, it was my Husband's birthday when we arrived the reception staff were very helpful and friendly. we arrived very early for check in so had a drink in the outside bar area and it was beautiful. when we got into our room again it was perfect very light and bright and simply decorated in a modern design. the views from the balcony were simply stunning. as it was my Husbands birthday the staff had provided a bottle of champagne and some delicious brownie fudge cake which was to die for i think i ate most of that. we went for a walk around the local area and had some lunch . we drove to cape st vincent to watch the sunset and came back to the hotel for our dinner which we ate in the restaurant. the service was very good and the food was lovely very well presented and tasted very good i would highly recommend you eat here even if you are not on holiday and want a very nice meal somewhere different.
we had breakfast which again was in the restaurant with lovely views in a bright and very clean surroundings.
all in all we had a very pleasant stay and would defiantly stay and eat here again.
well done to all the team at the memmo baleeira.
thank you for making our stay special.

Room Tip: we stayed in 304 great view of the sea and harbour, but i think most of the rooms seem to have a gre...
