“A Missed Chance”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2014

Restaurant O Telheiro do Infante could be one of the most exciting restaurants on the Iberian peninsula. A impeccable white beach, fresh but cristalline seawater and all together surrounded by impressive cliffs and rocks. But o Telheiro do Infante missed this unique opportunity, a gift of nature, painfully. It is not only the quality that fails but the total concepcion of what a good restaurant should be. The prices are extremely high for the region: 20 euro for a simple small sole of 200 gram, 15 euros for a mini- octopus or 11,50 euro for a simple spaghetti a la bolognese ( with a minimal quantity of meat...) create the first signs of irritation. But that irritation grows with the minute. So should all the extras such as salade, fried potatoes or rice be paid apart, prices from 1,50 till 2,95.....But the worst of all is the service, incredible waiting time due to a total desorganisation. After more than ONE HOUR waiting came at first the two plates of spaghetti, TWENTY minutes later the octopus and FIFTEEN minutes after the octopus the sword fish and the sole....The irritation reached a new climax noticing that the octopus was not only as thin as a childrens finger but served without a boiled potatoe, a tomato and onions as the Portuguese recepee prescribes. The sword fish had a strange sour vinegartaste as if the fish had been too long out of the fridge. And finally the bill was the final reason that made decide us: once but never again. This commentary surely will provoque a bitter reaction or excuse from the manager. My suggestion: forget the reaction on the commentaries and dedicate all the time to organisation and service. And if there are too many guests for the capacity of the kitchen, reorganize! Less tables or more personnel in the kitchen to avoid a missed chance.

Just an amazing place to put a restaurant in the cliff face overlooking the small bay surrounded by cliffs.
The food was excellent and staff friendly and attentive. Reasonably priced although I did baulk at the lobster at 85 euros ! Well worth a visit

“Splending location and views, otherwise average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2014

The location of the hotel affords a beautiful spot for lunch, with marvellous views particularly across the bay toward the fortress of Sagres. While seemingly somewhat sheltered in the bay, it was quite windy - borderline to be outside. Food was rather average, some good, some not so. Service was hopelessly slow. There seemed adequate staff, but little organization and the senior lady hostess was not very welcoming. It was fortunate that they were not busy as we might still be there !! Lunch was a little pricey compared to other places we had tried. It is a bit of a shame because they seem to have most things to be very successful.

“Horrible food at a great spot”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2014

I found the whole restaurant really terrible. The wine was watery, the soup was really old, the 'hamburgers' with mushroom were uneatable. Really horrible. I was sick during the rest of the day, and night. The whole restaurant smelled bad, nothing was fresh. Really a big disappointment at such a great spot. The owners should be forced to eat that hambuger once! A pity they don't make their food themselves and sell prefabricated, old, food.

“Surreally bad.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2014

Visited out of season but there were a few diners so werent put off. Service was slow. We waited about 10 minutes for our drink order. Waitress was surly. Drinks were so slow to come causing my 8 year old to say how bad the service was. Felt that the waiting staff were doing us a favour the whole time we were there. Portions were small and not very well presented. Worst experience in 5 years of visiting Algarve. Suggest a change of staff would be a vast improvement.

I felt I was in some foreign fawlty towers sketch. Without the laughs.
