“A hotel in a wonderful location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 weeks ago

The Pousada is perched on the top of the cliffs at Sagres, with far reaching views including Fortaleza. It is slightly old fashioned but that just adds to it's charm. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The bedrooms are very good and there is free wifi everywhere, though it is slow. There is a lovely swimming pool and terrace. The breakfast is a buffet with plenty of choice. The evening meals are very average but there are plenty of restaurants in Sagres. There is a menu for 25euros but then they add 4euros cover charge.

Over looking the sea, on the edge of the cliff feeling like you could jump in the sea from your balcony. Pick a room with sea view (any other choice is a criminal waste) and ask for rooms in the 200-212 corridor ( away from restaurant to enjoy late morning sleep).

I loved this place. It is situated at the southmost, west most part of Portugal. The views are tremendous. This Pousada sits on the edge of a cliff overlooking the ocean. You can see and smell the ocean from poolside or just sitting on the patio. The pousada is 5 star and has all amenities including a lovely pool, bar and restaurant. The service is amazing and friendly. The Portuguese are well suited to provide a wonderful ambiance and incredible service. Wow, I am already wondering how I will get self back to this wonderful part of the world.

Room Tip: I believe all rooms are good. I believe all have ocean views.

We loved this pousada. It's a great 60's hotel. Yes, it's dated but that's the charm of it! The rooms are small but cool without airconditioning due to the thickness of the walls and the sea breeze. The architecture is incredible, the landscape, beautiful. The food is average but Sagres center is just down the road and there are plenty of other food options along the coast!

Absolutely lovely spot. Unbelievable views of ocean. The rooms are a decent size. Very nice balcony in second floor rooms. The beds low and a bit hard. The bathroom is big enough but a little dated. Three areas the hotel could improve: the bathroom lacks storage space. There is easily room to put shelves near the sink, additional towel racks near the tub and a hook on the back of the door. This would really improve the functionality of the bathroom. Also, the hair dryer is they old type attached to the wall. They should really replace those! And there is a safe, but it is very small. Not big enough for an iPad or laptop.

The buffet breakfast is just OK.But sitting outside in the morning makes up for the dull breakfast choices. Easy 5 minute walk into town - with groceries and a few restaurants close by. A slightly longer walk to harbor or other parts of town with more restaurants.

There are hiking trails all around the hotel and you can walk down to the beach. The pool area is nice, although the water is very cold. Also, the wait staff does not serve the pool area.

The hotel arranged a car service to take us to Cape St. Vincent for sunset. That was very nice. We didn't rent a car and didn't feel like we needed one for the few days we were there.

Room Tip: Best rooms are on second floor facing the ocean.

Our stay in this pousada at the end of August 2014 was a wonderfull experience. After a very warm welcome (all possible help with luggage was offered) we could occupy our room on the ground floor with a breathtaking view over the sea and cabo St Vincente. This view and the (small but nice) terrace made us forget that the room wasn't as nicely furnished as the rooms in the other pousadas we already visited. The staff is very friendly and helpfull. Especially the restaurant staff... Mrs. Climaco let everything run like clockwork: smooth and reliable. She is amazingly efficient and extremely nice and warm. It felt like coming to dine with a friend.
The restaurant quality is good but it doesn't have a 'wow-factor'. Breakfast is very nice, we didn't miss anything. If you are staying in Sagres, you should ask the reception staff for some nice suggestions. They sent us to a dolphin spotting trip... amazing. The pousada of Sagres is most certainly one of our top pousada visits and we will most certainly be back once.
One last remark... I think that it doesn't make a difference which room you have, they all have an amazing view.

Room Tip: I think all rooms have the same amazing sea view.

I am only scoring average because I do not believe this was value for money. The rooms need to be refurbished, there was a significant smell of mildew all decoration was tired.
The room had a wonderful view but our trip was so short we didn't really have time to fully appreciate, breakfast was average, however staff in attendance kept everything replenished.
A suggestion.if you are eating outside of the hotel, book the restaurant because the top 3 rated had no availability fir the same evening.
Excellent wi fi
