My wife and I had dinner there after watching the sunset at Cape St Vincent. We were a bit disappointed with food and service, considering the great reviews and the high prices. Dishes were prepared using very fresh fish, but seasoned with too much garlic, oil or cream... my seafood spaghetti at E30 tated mostly of garlic. Service was hit and miss too: after our main course we were ignored for at least 20 minutes... at that point we had enough and just asked for the bill.

We've eaten at the Vila Veha four times now over three years and it never disappoints. The chef uses fantastic local ingredients from the land and sea to create imaginative dishes. They are based on traditional Portuguese cuisne but are more refined and better cooked than the competition in the town. She has a real flair for flavour and brings the quality of the fantastic fish and fruit through.

The restaurant is beautifully presented in an atmospheric old house. Tables are arranged cleverly so that you are not on top of one another but are conscious that the restaurant is full of people enjoying their evening. Service is excellent and the staff are clearly proud of the food that they serve.

Sagres is a fairly small, quiet and uncommercialised town and in our view Vila Velha is its best restaurant by some margin. More than that, it stands comparison with any restaurant we have tried anywhere.

Was in Sagres for a week and this was our favourite place, really friendly and more of a restaurant style to the dishes, pasta and seafood dishes were all excellent.

Really enjoyed this place which is a bit more 'restauranty' than many other places in Sagres. The service was really friendly from start to finish and considering the amount we ate, I don't think the bill was high. Think it came to about 180 euros for 4 people and we had three courses and wine.

Steaks were fantastic and my chicken with peanut sauce and pineapple was one of my dishes of the holiday. The chocolate brownie with cherry was also great. Atmosphere was very buzzy with every table taken.
