“Lovely Apartments!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

Just returned from a weeks holiday to these apartments and can say I would recommend them to anyone wanting a quiet relaxing holiday but with easy access to the town and beach. The apartments are in a quiet area of Praia de Rocha (about 10 mins walk to town and beach) and so there is hardly any noise in the surrounding area.
The apartments were clean, well equipped (could have done with some wine glasses - although we went and got some from the bar), the beds were comfortable with nice pillows. Towels a little thin but this is me being picky, they were perfectly clean.
The pool was one of the nicest pool areas I have been to, the perfect size so there are not hoardes of people around it, just the right amount of sun loungers, we never had a problem getting some no matter what time of day. The pool area was kept very clean and tidy. The snack bar at the hotel was perfect and very reasonably priced, ideal for a quick snack by the pool, and the cocktails very well priced at 4 euros. This is a 4 star property and I would happily give it a 4 star rating (a good four star at that). Also a nice mixture of nationalities using this hotel, and everyone very respectful of each other i.e No noisy people by the pool/at night time, no reserving sunbeds with towels etc.
Lovely time!

We came here on the basis of the reviews we read, what a terrible mistake. The staff were rude, uncaring and didnt give a damn. The apartment in fairness was clean, however the sofa bed was disgusting,it was stained and had springs hanging out.The bed was most uncomfortable and impossible to sleep in,the pillows are half normal size and hard, you cannot sleep properly due to the noise of the kitchen appliances(its like sleeping next to a buzzing freezer all night). The residential area in which the hotel is situated is fully of screaming and shouting, dogs continually barking and the banging of doors in the premises due to drunken guests arriving in the early hours. The breakfast was very very poor, scraps of cold scrambled egg and a bit of ham,not enough bread etc.The hotel advertises a kids club,it has not had one for over a year which was no good for us at all. This is NOT a four star hotel and should be re classed as a 2 star, the good thing about the place is that its clean and well decorated, with a nice pool. However thats the only positive thing we took with us,we booked out after 2 nights and went elsewhere.

Had a stay of just over a week here, we were well pleased with our choice based on other Trip Advisor reviews. As stated in other reviews, this modern building is in a private residential area and is very peaceful with a couple of well stocked supermarkets, one with a cafe and a bakery (get in early for the fresh bread at 1€!) only five minutes away. There is also a free ATM there too. The apartment was well appointed with housekeeping on a regular basis, we were lucky enough to be on the top floor overlooking the river towards the marina with the Atlantic in the background. The staff, were very friendly and nothing was too much bother. Portimao and Praia da Rocha are both easily accessed walking (and in the case of Portimao, using the bus back in the late evening, well worth experiencing the local culture!) I hope this together with other comments help make your choice as much as it did ours, we'll certainly consider going back.

Room Tip: Away from the lifts and common stairways

Stayed here the end of May with my husband and two kids. Great spot. Apartments were spotless and had all the mod cons. The air con was a God send as was the washing machine! Bar served excellent cocktails and milkshakes and you could get burger and fries for around €5 - bargain. Was 5-10minute walk to the Jupiter so not far at all from the beach. Make sure you visit the Aqua shopping centre about 10mins away in a taxi. Hollywood is yum (avoid the one above it) and so is titantic. Brilliant time and would stay here again in a heartbeat!!!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2012

I spent a week in July 2012 in this place and absolutely loved this place. The few nags - this isn't a *perfect* place - are very little problems compared to the advantages. Let me start with the good stuff.
This is a self catering block of flats with some common services such as a swimming pools, sauna, gym, massage, snack bar, and common room with a large LCD and pool table. The rooms are recent and quite large and comfortable with dining table, a couple of couches and TV. All rooms face the pool towards the East so you get the best sunshine in the morning and in the afternoon the sun goes to the other side and the rooms, although still getting plenty of light, don't get too hot. All rooms have a small, but fully equipped, kitchen: besides the quintessencial cooker, microwave oven and fridge with a freezer you get machines to do laundry and dishes. There are two A/C units in each flat, one in the main room and another in the living room. Finally, there is a large balcony with a superb view over Ferragudo, on the other side of the river. Not much of a view over the Marina, after which the hotel got its name, though!
The snack bar serves drinks and sandwiches and was quite inexpensive. One last positive thing to add: this is a very quiet area! No night clubs, no traffic, no nothing: just pure silence - besides the crickets and the cicadas, obviously! Also, the clientele seems to be quite mindful of each other and at least when I was there, most people were silent, no one was smoking... fantastic!
The swimming pools seem small but they in fact are just the right size for the number of people. There's a very shallow one for babies and children; the large one isn't very deep either. Besides the large pool there is a small, shallow bay with steps.
Now for the less positive: the swimming pool is too exposed to the wind (and it can get chilly when you're in the pool) and is so close to the main building that after 6.30pm most of it is already in the shade, making it even more uncomfortable; although the location is interesting, it's a pain to get there through Portimão's confusing streets; and the garage - a real pain to drive around, full of twists and turns - surely the architect wasn't in his best day when I drew it!

All in all: a really good place, perfect if you're looking for a family hotel yet you want to have some peace and quiet (and especially if you don't like the "towel wars" between brits and germans, because there aren't any). I will strongly recommend this to everyone I know!

Apartments were very spacious, clean, with a fantastic view. Sunbed, pool area also very well kept, no rush in the morning for sunbeds. The staff and the food at the snack bar were excellent. I can recommend the burgers. The coffee was lovely too. Short walk to the main town lots of coffee shops for your morning coffee. Lots of variety in restaurants to suit everyone. Beach is lovely .

Room Tip: We were on the 4th floor so view was amazing
