“Great visit to the Cascade Resort Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

Enjoyed a most relaxing week, slightly out of season, with many highlights - extremely pleasant and engaging staff in all areas (reception, housekeeping, bar and restaurant), good list of cocktails and Portuguese wines which we had not tried before, lovely landscaping, an extremely well equipped gym (not your usual dingy basement room with a few pieces of equipment), spacious bed/bathroom, although just a double and the decor throughout the hotel was very pleasing. An interesting metal and glass light fitting above the cocktail bar. There are two pools (one attached to the spa). There is a good walk along the cliffs from Porte Mos beach to Luz to work off some of the overindulging; I would not recommend the section from the hotel to Porte Mos beach to the faint at heart, especially after rain. Although situated out of Lagos town - about a 25 minute trot, we were happy to make a few visits and return to our sanctuary. Recommend eating in Senses (in-house), No Patio and Vivenda Miranda (also owned by the Cascade owner) and more casually in Campi Mar beach restaurant. You will need directions to Vivenda Miranda as it is very discreet. Will definitely return.

Room Tip: Rooms with a view to the pool and ocean probably better but not the end of the world if you are on t...

I must preface this review by saying that my husband and I are very well travelled and have stayed at many 5-star resorts. Our experiences at Cascades were some of the best we've had in so many categories. The quality, freshness, variety and presentation of the food, friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, the gym, the spa, the pool, the beauty of the property, the room were all stupendous! Their recommendations of restaurants was great, they arranged a day of sailing for us and drove us to the place. The little treats in our room awaiting our arrival at night were exquisite. I am an interior designer and there are not many hotels which I deem extremely well designed, but this is one of them. The materials, but also the flow and layout are flawless. We are bringing our three adult children and inlays back next June.

Room Tip: We faced the pool and the sound of the water trickling each night was sleep inducing, as well as pro...

My wife & I stayed in Cascade Hotel in April and were very pleased.
Weather in April wasn't great but we decided to book 3rd - 10th October and both the hotel and the weather surpassed our expectations on this visit.
In April our only gripe was terrible internet connectivity but by October this was 100% resolved.

We would definitely consider going back a 3rd time

We have just returned from The Cascade Resort...wow. We all (two adults and two children), had a perfect holiday. I really didn't want to come home! Our one bedroom apartment was clean and very well equipped with beautiful views. We were half board at the hotel restaurant which served up fantastic food each night. All the staff were very helpful...true five star service. The weather was perfect, the local beach was stunning and the boat trip to see the dolphins out at sea was worth every penny. Check out the local wines in the supermarket in Lagos...for less than 2 euros there are some really good dry whites! We hope to come back for another week of relaxation next year. Thank you Cascade for a perfect break!

Wonderful breakaway at this luxurious hotel, even though at present it is unfinished. Superb quality furnishings / toiletries / etc. The staff are a credit to the hotel. Breakfasts are excellent, extensive choice, - nothing tinned here!
Visit outside main holiday period meant hotel was very quiet, which was fine by us. Walked to town, or to nearby beach restaurant in the evenings for big choice of eateries and livlier atmosphere.

Room Tip: I think the pool view rooms face south west and have lovely large balconies.

We were a little suprised by the layout and quietness of the resort on arrival and would normally have booked a room in the hotel rather than an apartment (which was the best room option offered on Travel Republic at the time of booking). The apartment meant a short walk to the main hotel, but in beautiful sunshine who cares!

Just a couple of comments in respect of my personal situation - female and only 5'2" - there was no full length mirror in the apartment and the bathrom mirrors allowed only a head and shoulders view for me. A word with reception and within a short space of time, a free standing mirror appeared - well done. Also, nowhere to make up with good light and a place to sit. However, minor considerations in the scale of things.

The apartment otherwise was beautifully appointed with quality fittings and furnishings, including dishwasher, washing machine and a good selection of crockery and kitchen wares. Being out of season, the pool area serving the apartments was often completely empty, so provided a very peaceful and relaxing setting to chill out. Pool was cold, but seems to be the norm for the Algarve.

The staff provided the highest level of service with lots of smiling faces and nothing too much trouble. Pedro and Andrea would happily run us to Lagos whenever we needed. Unlike a previous reviewer, we found the resort car often available, but perhaps due to an early October stay.

Breakfast was a buffet with excellent choices, but 'the' hot food only warm - again not unusual in my experience. We dined in Moods restaurant on three occasions and the food and service were excellent although not speedy.

Yes, you pay for 5 star service and that was exactly what was provided.

We actually enjoyed our visits to Lagos old town and the harbour, finding a shorter route on foot taking around half an hour for a slow walker. Yes, there are lots of British toursts, but we met many other nationalities too. The town has some amazing architecture and exploring was a delight. The boat trip around the caves was a great experience (try to go when the water is calm). The beaches we visited (Ana and Mos) were lovely. A great holiday, helped by very good weather.

We have visited the hotel before, the end of last june 2012.
This time it was better, due to the weather, about 27 à 28 degrees.
The wind was sometimes cold, the swimmingpool was very cold, it was a pity.
They changed a few things, the matrasses on the sunbeds were not so very comfortable as before, but still good.
The breakfast is of a superior quality, a lot of fruits.
But the main important thing is the relaxing atmosphere, no music at the pool, in the evening silence, so relaxing.
I will hope to return next year to this beautiful hotel.
