“Beautiful small exclusive hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

We have recently been on a week's holiday to Quinta Bonita and what a find!! Due to the boutique hotel being only 8 bedrooms it feels more like staying in a villa with friends. We stayed in the room called Ingrina, although this was not our first choice the bedroom was an excellent size with a huge balcony which overlooked the pool and we could see the sea as well. It was tastefully decorated and the little touches like a sprig of rosemary and chocolates on the bed, fresh flowers, a bottle of chilled sparkling wind on arrival in the bedroom and cold towels and pineapple juice served as we checked in make this a special hotel.

On the night of arrival Chantelle and Frazer offer dinner one night of week which was set out on the terrace overlooking the beautiful gardens. The food was excellent and a lovely way to start our holiday. They also serve lunch if your are around during the day which needs to be ordered before 11am and a picnic lunch or picnic dinner at an extra charge. Chantelle and Frazer were wonderful hosts and nothing was too much trouble. Chantelle was very knowledgeable about the area and giving maps and information about places to visit, the information in the book in the bedroom about local restaurants was invaluable and we would never have found some of these restaurants by ourselves.

The staff were very friendly in particular Annabella, i would highly recommend this for a peaceful holiday while they are attentive but unobtrusive. You will need to hire a car which Chantelle can help with on booking. We cannot wait to have a return trip. Thanks you for a lovely restful holday.

Room Tip: Book early at peak times, try to book a room overlooking the pool

“Faultless!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2012

My wife and I stayed here for two weeks in August and we both had the most wonderful stay. Conveniently situated a short distance from Lagos, within wonderful grounds, Quinta Bonita is ideally placed to explore the Algarve or simply relax undisturbed alongside the lovely swimming pool away from the busy tourist areas.
Our room 'Bordeira' was large, spotless and extremely comfortable. The room provided lovely views over the gardens to the sea via the large balcony/sun terrace and it really was a pleasure to wake up and open the curtains every morning!
From the moment we arrived until the time of our departure we were treated like royalty by Chantelle, Fraser, Anabella and all the hotel staff. Breakfast was great, afternoon tea and cakes too tempting, and the weekly evening meal (prepared by Fraser) was exceptional and highly recommended. Ideas for excursions and restaurant recommendations were spot on. The advice provided by Chantelle, Fraser & Anabella over breakfast was extremely helpful and helped make our stay such a special one.
We cannot recommend Quinta Bonita enough and will hopefully be returning sooner rather than later.

Room Tip: Second floor rooms all have views.

“Superb Relaxing Venue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2012

My wife and teenage children had a fantastic 12 day stay at this hotel. Set in lovely grounds it is a perfect position for exploring the Algarve.
Top quality beaches are within a short drive as are interesting walks in the hills and along the cliff tops.
Breakfast was simple and easy (fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereals toast, pastries).
We didn't try the in-house dinner which is once a week.
Bedrooms were just what was required. Our children had large walk in shower rooms and we had a suite which was large, comfortable and had a balcony over the gardens for relaxing reading. Our bathroom had a choice of shower and bath.
Good advice (usually delivered over breakfast) and help in planning your day and booking restaurants in the locality.
Taxi ride to Lagos is less than €10 each way and are easy to arrange and pick up in Lagos taxi rank. They all knew Quinta Bonita!

“Wonderful B&B!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2012

I can't say enough great things about Quinta Bonita! Extremely friendly and helpful staff, beautiful grounds, relaxing atmosphere. Chantelle and Fraser have many special touches to make your stay memorable - the honesty bar, afternoon tea and cake, dinner one night per week, and they will help to arrange any excursion you are interested in. I hope to go back one day!

“The definition of hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2012

Hospitality, from the moment of booking until the moment of departure. This is what you get with Quinta Bonita. A friendly interaction via email following our initial enquiry in order to fine tune our requirements, extended to making recommendations relating to golf, car hire and available excursions, to great service whilst we were there, to a friendly farewell on departure.

Arrival was seamless, with a friendly welcome from Chantelle who showed us around, while our bags were taken to our room. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble with offers to make bookings of taxis (recommended as the hotel is a few km from Lagos and Luz - budget 8-9 euros each way or easy enough to drive) and restaurants - we would recommend Artistas and Café Do Pinto in Lagos and also one in Vila Do Bispo whose name escapes me but which featured on the extensive information pack provided in our room. On the subject of food, breakfast was slick and tasty - with everything you could want to get you started for the day. Lunches are available to order and were met with approval by my wife. Dinner is optional once a week in the hotel, and was of a very high standard - better than many of the restaurants that we came across. They also do free afternoon tea / cake - which I was not around for but my wife enjoyed it. Whilst we were there they held a small launch event for weddings which we were invited to attend - I think they are planning on holding receptions at the hotel - the setting is fabulous and I would recommend seriously considering this venue if you are giving this option some thought.

I enjoy golf, and this was booked via the QB team who arranged for me to play with a group of locals and expats which was great fun. It was worth booking via the hotel as they have special rates / deals.

The room was comfy and large. It had a nice view and was cool when it needed to be via the adjustable aircon. The large terrace was private and useful. There are a few areas for sitting / drinking / reading dotted around the hotel. The pool is a great temperature and has enough loungers and fresh pool towels etc. It really is an oasis of calm.

Once you’re there we’d recommend a trip to the fort at Sagres, and long walks along the beach (atlantic coast) at Praia do Castelejo (which is a hot favourite with surfers). We walked from one end of the beach to the other and back which took about 2 hours in all. If you play golf, ask for an intro to the “roll up boys” who play twice a week at Boa Vista who welcome friendly guests to their bi-weekly games - and for a beer or two afterwards at a local bar. I also played Palmeras which is a stunning but tricky course with 27 holes (with no difference in quality between each 9).

To be critical (a couple of things which we did not think were a problem but others might) - the hotel is very well located in terms of getting there (you won’t get lost finding it, but you do need to get in the car or taxi to go for dinner anywhere other than Cachoa (which we thought was fairly average) - so if you like a fair few drinks you’ll need to budget for the taxi ride - note the taxis are good quality and metered. The trade off to this is that the wonderful garden at the hotel which you would not get if you were in the middle of a town. Breakfast was great for us as we don’t crave a fry up every day, and you can pay a small supplement if you want something cooked. The lavish buffet is more than adequate with plenty of cheese, meat, fruit, cereals, breads and other goodies.

Room Tip: Our room, Ingrina had a sunny terrace with great views of the hills and the sea. It was big and com...
