“If your in Lagos, STAY HERE!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2010

I decided to write this review, even though I stayed here almost 2 years ago, because it was the BEST hostel we stayed at on our backpacking trip through Europe.

"Nana" is so sweet, her rooms are awesome, there are back dorms where you walk out onto a cute little terrace, you have free range of the kitchen & its a close walk to all the bars, the beach, market...everything!

When I make it back to Portugal, I am DEFINITELY staying here! Try it, especially if your backpacking like I was!

On arriving we were greeted by a lovely elderly Portuguese lady, very friendly and welcoming despite having very little English we communicated quite well in a mix os sign language Spanish and English!. You have to pay the balance of your room in cash when you arrive as none of the Lagos Hostels I've ever been to have any card facilities. Difficult to park outside the Hostel as it's in the old town but it was August so didn't expect anything different, I'm sure it'll be easier during other months. In the end we found that there is actually a free carpark located just a short walk away on the other side of the City walls so we used this during our stay. Location of Hostel is excellent, within easy walking distance of everything, shops, bars, restaurants and the ferry to the main beach too, walk back is up a small hill but this is difficult to avoid in Lagos. We had a private ensuite room that was situated to the back of the hostel including a small terrace that looked onto the patio area and also the historic city wall. The room was perfect apart from the rock hard pillows and mattress! but after a few Super Bocks in town this was not an issue!. Internet is available but you have to ask and it was 1 euro an hour, there's also washing facilities and a kitchen for guests to use. I wouldn't recommend this as a place to stay if you want never-ending parties and madness but if you are a couple looking for a quiet, well-located, friendly clean place to stay then this is perfect!.

Clean, simple rooms and bathrooms. Just a short walk into the centre of town (less than 5mins) and only slightly longer to the beach. The little old ladies that run it were fantastic - even when a couple of us got arrested and the police rolled up to the door at 5am to collect our passports, they still treated us like grandsons when we returned around lunchtime and apologised!
