What a great find. Second night here and enjoying the hotel and location. The room is small but clean and functional. I thought the room when I booked had tea making facilities but I could have been wrong. There is also a small balcony which is a welcome addition. Roof top restaurant is a great place to have the free breakfast over looking the marina. Staff are extremely friendly. Would definitely stay here again.

Location - very convenient for the sights, shops, harbour, restaurants, bus station [5 mins or less walk].
Staff- very helpful and prompt in dealing with any requests - such as for a kettle. Having read trip advisor reviews decided to book this hotel and very pleased I did. Paula at reservations
was very responsive to email enquiries, requests - example making sure room was in quiet non-smoking area
Room: 3rd floor room faced a quiet street. very clean, linen/toiletries changed daily. Hairdryer in bathroom. Toilet, bidet, bath, shower - all good. Mini fridge with complimentary bottled water. TV.
Sufficient number of wall sockets. Wifi worked fine in room and other hotel areas.
4th floor balcony restaurant - great view of harbour, nesting storks, planes en route to airport, view of promenade. The service was prompt and always with a smile -great food [menu fixed] reasonably priced for the venue [starters around 8 euros, mains around 14-20 ish euros] - white linen table cloth, napkins. Glass doors make the restaurant light and fresh [but take care not to walk into them!]. Sunset views, eat under the stars - sea breeze! ample breakfast [lots fruits, cereals etc as well salmon and cooked breakfast items].
Definitely recommend - great value, welcoming staff.

The hotel is located right next to the marina, and near de train station.
The decor is modern and simple. The rooms are very spacious and ideal for short stays. Free wifi.
Breakfast is great, the rooftop bar where breakfast is served has a great view!! Staff is very pleasant.
One thing that maybe missing is a volt in the room.

On arrival, in the evening, we were allocated a fairly dowdy looking room. My wife noticed that there we no tea/coffee making facilities that she'd been assured by email that were present in all superior rooms. We advised reception via the room phone and were advised that the room we'd been given was not superior and she'd given us the incorrect room in error and we were able to change. The new room that we were given was much brighter and airy but had a double bed rather the twin beds that we'd requested. It was getting late and we wanted to go out and get something to eat so we stuck with the room.
Woken about 1PM by people shouting outside then again a couple of hours later by workmen collecting bins, then again by people shouting and by luggage wheels reverberating over the cobbled road outside the window.
The next day we requested a twin room as we'd originally asked for and were allocated the room next door. Surprisingly differently laid out, smaller but nice enough.
We were woken on a number of occasions over the next 2 nights despite wearing ear plugs.
Incidentally, the tea/coffee making facilities consisted of tea bags and a kettle. So unless you're in to black tea, you'll need to bring some with you.
Not all negative...
Nice showers.
Room and hotel clean.
Restaurant/breakfast area on 4th floor affords beautiful views over the Faro and across to the sea. A real highlight was watching the storks on their nests and soaring overhead.
The breakfast food was ok on the 1st couple of days but improved on the last day when they had oven cooked tomatoes and the bread was much fresher.
The coffee was very good and it was a real treat to get an extra coffee after we'd eaten and to sit outside watching the storks.
The staff in the breakfast room were excellent and very helpful.
The hotel's location is very central. Bus station 2 minutes walk, train station 4 minutes, taxis across the road.
All in all a pretty good hotel but it was really noisy on the 1st floor.

Room Tip: Get a room on a high floor. Avoid rooms 122 and 123 (and presumably adjacent rooms too)

we stayed at the hotel for 6 nights and it was great. when we arrived the lady on reception was so helpful as we had arrived early, she told us how long it would be till our room was ready. the hotel is modern and very clean, our room and beds were very comfortable. the breakfasts were great with a lot of choice to suit all tastes. the rooftop terrace was a perfect place to sit and have a drink and chill.would highly recommend and cant wait to go back

Dear Guest,

It was a pleasure to have you in our hotel sir for that period. Usually our guests staying for a very short time, and unfortunately we do not have much opportunities to develop relationships.
Regarding the terrace, we still have ongoing redecorations to make it the city's best location to spend a good time socializing.

Look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Best regards

We stayed here the first week in April 2015. A fantastic location on the Marina with resident White Storks nesting on the lamp post outside. Very helpful and friendly staff and a spacious, clean and well air conditioned room.
The best part though was the rooftop restaurant, bar and terrace. We booked half board to get the better room and only expected to eat in the hotel on the first night. However the variety and quality of the menu meant we eat there every night bar one. The chef is an absolute star. So creative and consistent. Equally good was the waiting on staff. The boys and the girls were delightful. Informed, friendly and efficient. They are a great credit to the hotel. Thank you for such a good time. Sean Onions

Dear Guest,

It is a pleasure to read such a wonderful feedback of your recent stay at Hotel Faro.
I am very glad to know that you appreciated our new and refurbished restaurant at the rooftop, I will let the Chef know how much you enjoyed the menu, also our mascots (White Stork) that accompany us already for a long time and we love to have them close by.

Be sure your words will be shared with the “boys and girls” and that we all would like very much to welcome you back in our Hotel

With Kind Regards,
Vanessa

The hotel is in an ideal location, and the Old Town and newer areas of Faro are easily accessible. It’s also very close to the nearby train and bus station, and is just a short taxi from Faro airport. The restaurant was lovely for breakfast, and has beautiful views overlooking the marina. There was plenty of choice available, with cereals, breads and pastries, fruit, yoghurts, meats, salmon, eggs, juices and hot drinks all on offer. The room itself was very comfortable but ours didn’t have a safe. There were also no facilities for making tea or coffee, though I understand from reading other reviews that the hotel are looking to add these. There was also a spacious bathroom with bath and shower. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and I wouldn’t have any problems recommending this as a good hotel for anyone visiting.

Dear Guest,
We appreciate very much your comments and thank you for sharing your experience at Hotel Faro.
In fact around the hotel, you have the historical area on one side and all the interesting attractions on the other. Always on a walking distance so you can enjoy the sunshine!
We are indeed improving the Hotel and it takes time, although your comments on the Restaurant Ria Formosa, your room and the staff are the reflection of our effort.
Thank you once again for letting us know that we are on the right direction.

Regarding the safe in your room, you can always mention that to the reception and we would be pleased to attend your request.

We are looking forward to welcome you again.
With Kind Regards,
Vanessa
