“Amazing place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

Winniehill is unbelievable! Definitely, one of the best memories about our wonderful trip to Portugal. Cozy, nice and beautiful place with lovely atmosphere. Great rural location, incredible view trough the window, nicest owners you can imagine, excellent room, unbelievably delicious home-cooked breakfasts.. Everything we expected and even more!

We visited for a relaxing break on our first visit to Portugal. Winniehill was conveniently located for a quick transfer, and on arrival it didn't disappoint. The views were amazing, the rooms were immaculate and very comfortable and we were spoilt with the relaxing pool room and roof terrace. Robin and Fiona are wonderful hosts, providing lots of local information and made our stay very enjoyable. Fiona's now legendary breakfasts were stunning. We took advantage of Fiona's catering with a lovely evening meal watching the sunset by the pool. We highly recommend and look forward to a return visit.

We had a great time at Winniehill, the place has a very cosy feeling, Fiona and Robin make you feel at home right away. The breakfast is spectacular!!! Fiona bakes the most delicious whole wheat bread every single day, as well as muffins and pancakes. There is yoghourt, fresh fruit salad, freshly squeezed orange juice etc, it is the most delicious breakfast you can ever imagine. They also provide a nice TV room next to the pool where you can have coffee or tea. Recommendable!

This was our first time in Portugal. We were looking for a nice, quiet place, preferably located outside of crowded large cities. Just a few days break from everyday's loudness. And we had find this absolutely top class B&B.

Located in close distance to Faro and Olhao (aproximately 10 km - walking / biking distance for sure as we did both few times), few meters above sea level. View from this place is fantastic - it's located on a small mountain slope. We didn't rent a car - but it was ok since Fiona and Robin are providing a service as well to pick us from the airport (and they've brought us back of course).

What else can we say ? I think the fact that overall rating of this place is Excellent tells you everything. We'll definitely go back there if we have a chance.

Few tips
- If you don't want to rent a car - rent a bike. Rental company delivered bikes to B&B. The last day - since we had evening flight. We've gone to Faro and arranged bike company to take bikes from there which wasn't a problem.
- Olhao is very nice small city and there is ferry service to one of small islands. Definitely worth going there and enjoy some vinho verde
- Tavira is also a city worth sightseeing. We have cycled there and then we took a train to Olhao. Then we cycled back to B&B (there is no problem to take a bike on the train)
- My girlfriend took some pictures that you can find on this website: http://lamberska.pl/2012/05/winniehill/

My boyfriend and I stayed at Winniehill for 9 fantastic days in September! Both Fiona and Robin are very helpful, they'll give you advice for trips around the Algarve and they've found the perfect balance between giving their guests some privacy but also taking the time to chat and have a few drinks with their guests. We had a couple of nice evenings with the other guests but also had the romantic pool area to ourselves some nights. The bathrooms and rooms are very clean, nicely decorated and spacious, the food is great, breakfast was incredibleeee and the dogs are lovely. All in all, I would definitely recommend staying at Winniehill!!!

We stayed 3 days and it was without competition our best lodging of the holiday. Very beatiful rooms, pool view and family atmosphere. Cosy after-diner drink with the other guests by the pool is not an exception. The breakfast was impressive and the romantic diner by the pool can be recommended. Fiona also serves "snacks" for late arrivals but they can be considered as a delicious full meal. Don't hesitate to ask travel tips to Robin.

We stayed for three days in August. The B&B is only about 20 mins from the airport and is well situated for easy access to the main A22 road. Bedrooms clean and with air-con. As there were 5 of us, we had the whole place to ourselves and appreciated the good sized pool and comfortable places to sit. We also had use of a room by the pool so that we could make tea/coffee whenever we wanted and an honesty bar for other drinks Breakfast was fabulous and the table was full with home made musili, freshly squeezed orange juice, cold meats/salamis/ cheeses, tortilla and a variety of fruits. Fiona's home made muffins and cakes straight out of the oven also went down a storm- especially the peach and almond variety.
My husband and sons enjoyed a morning with Robin improving their golf and learning not to overthink their shots. Both Fiona and Robin were welcoming but also left us to be quiet and just by ourselves when we wanted to be. This B&B has lots of nice touches, such as home made biscuits left with the tea/coffee, printed out directions ( there AND back) to beaches and restaurants.
