“Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

My husband and I had lunch at O Pescador yesterday and it was fantastic. The food was beautiful the setting perfect and the service just right, not over the top but friendly and attentive. We will go back before the end of the holiday. Well worth a visit a Gem of a place.

“Lovely food in a great location, especially if you can sit out front”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2013

We found a card from O Pescador in the villa we were staying in and decided to try it out. We managed to walk in and get a table for 4 without booking at 6.30pm, although I wouldn't recommend relying on this as I think we were very lucky to have got it, so definitely book if you can!

The restaurant design is very contemporary inside and honestly wouldn't look out of place in a major city: candles in the bathrooms, incense sticks burning and furniture that looked like it could have come out of The White Company catalogue. This is by no means a bad thing at all, and it's a lovely place to sit in and eat, but it probably isn't representative of a "traditional" Portuguese place.

The food was excellent however. My wife and I shared a cataplana which at 25 EUR was good value for money. Our 7 year old had salmon tagliatelle, which was delicious but a quite large serving (we should have asked them for a smaller portion) and our 3 year old had the chicken nuggets, which were really nicely made with excellent crisp round chips. The food all seemed to be served at the same time. When we were seated we had olives and bread to keep us going with our drinks, but no other tables had any food either, but when it started to come out it was like they fed the whole place at the same time.

Sadly we didn't have time to stay for dessert but our meal including several non-alcoholic drinks each came to 52 EUR which was good value in our opinion. If you were to order the more exotic seafood or be lucky enough to not be driving and drink the wine on offer then this could rise quite sharply.

The balcony at the back overlooks Benagil bay and it's a delightful view, but only a handful of tables get to experience it - so if you are booking in advance and have a small enough party (4 or less) then ask for a table out there! The staff were lovely and extremely polite and good with our children. Parking was a bit of a nightmare, but then again it is Portugal so you come to expect it. If you're in the area then it's well worth a visit.

“Sublime dining, the perfect choice day or night”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013 via mobile

What a fantastic lunch we had (in a party of four freinds).

Arriving around lunchtime to be welcomed by Andre and his friendly team. The attention to detail is second to none...trendy yet comfortable. The location and view overlooking the beach is great!

We all opted for a variety of fish, fresh and tasty (the monkfish and tiger prawn kebab was out of this world).

A real gem that should be explored in an area blessed with great eateries!!!

“best in the area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

We have had meals at the pescador over many years under many different owners, but the new manager has got everything right! There is a new area for cocktails in front of the restaurant which has made good use of the space. The best place to sit is on the balcony, where you get a wonderful view of the small bay at Benagil, which is a relatively quiet and still has a small fishing village atmosphere.
The food is very good, as is the wine list and the service friendly and attentive. Like most of the restaurants in Benagil, and there are 3 others close at hand, the best dishes are sea fish based, but the salmon tagliatelle was to die for (not literally of course...)
The desserts were not the standard ice creams and cakes, but included the most glorious banoffee pie, the best we have tasted anywhere. No mean feat as it was 'invented' close to where we live!
This is a very good way to begin or conclude a holiday.

“A great new addition to the Carvoeiro Restaurant scene”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

We visited this new restaurant (only opened 2 weeks ago) on July 8th at lunchtime. Andre (the owner) was a partner in Onze in the centre of Carvoeiro and has now opened his own place, with views to die for over Benegil Beach! Food is using fresh local cuisine but with an international twist. My party of four enjoyed everything we had..mainly fish or seafood but meat is on the menu too. Wines are specially selected but the prices are reasonable for both food and drink. Andre is a very friendly guy and he deserves success with his new venture. Please give him a visit and experience for yourselves.
