“Amazing 2 bed superior sea view Accomodation , however need a car”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

Just back from 2 weeks in a 2 bed superior sea view 2 story Accomodation . 02 sept. family of 5 consisting of 3 teens. We were very impressed with our house. No 622. Two stories with 2 ensuites, fully equipped kitchen, inc washing machine and dish washer, microwave etc. we eat out every evening however there would be no need.
My teens, 15,16,18 were bored the first few days until they made friends, as their is no real entertainment in the resort. The pool bar staff were lovely and friendly and chatted to my us every day. A car is definitely needed as it is away from everything ,

carveoeiro is approx 3klms and always a large taxi queue every evening going home.
There are 3 pools, one main pool with bar and snacks the other 2 are very small and scattered around the resort. It's a huge resort of over 900 properties.

Reception staff are ok except for the lady with glasses who really want to help. One day I asked her where did the little train go to that drives into the resort every day, she said no where, and then we saw it in the town, I asked her about shopping markets and she said she had no information on them even though I found it myself in reception.

Over all we enjoyed ourselves, very clean and well maintained, due to the large area a long walk to the pool everyday. The bar charges 4.50 euro a pint, and tiny sandwich 5euro, and the shop on site also very expensive. 24 weetabix 6.99euro ! There is a spar nearby which is much cheaper.

Not much else around with out a car. Great restaurant across the rd, rocha mar, well worth a visit. Tropical helders is next to spar and a great place for evening drinks with free wifi.

Would I go again ? , yes , however no, as I feel there is a big world out there.

Very safe resort, once our teens made friends , we had no issue with them coming home late. Lovely walk to the amazing cliffs at the back of our house.

Beautifully landscaped, family friendly complex, quiet and with 24 security. A few things to know in advance; a fair number of the villas and apartments, are privately owned, so even though Rocha Brava let them out, the furniture etc may reflect the owner's taste and can be dated (the flip side, is that they can also be packed with higher end white good and electricals than a bog standard rental).

The main pool does get busy in August, the site used to have someone who removed towels that people put on early in the morning and abandon, this wasn't happening while we were there this time (Rocha Brava - please resolve!) as a result an 8.15am book read is on the cards if you want to bagsy some beds for your family and don't be a towel 'drop and run' merchant..please!

Otherwise, the pool is lovely and despite the numbers, it never seems like bedlam (there are two other pools on site, one is much smaller and great for tots).

If you hire a car, it seemed a lot easier to pay the rental company in advance for the toll road (the new A22 motorway) - since, we loved the beaches in Alvor (for smaller kids, it's less 'Atlantic' wave wise) and that meant a little jump on the A22 for a couple of junctions.

Great food at the big restaurant, opposite the main entrance (I had the fish kebab and the staff were great). One waiter to watch at the onsite RB Cafe, is a young guy who encourages you to try a 'nicer' bottle of wine, when you ask for the house (which is lovely itself!) and while I'm all in favour of upselling (!) when it comes out double the price, you go 'oach'

This site is fab for families with younger kids (upto say 10) as there are lots of nice restaurants on or really near the site, it's quiet and they lay on a regular shuttle to the nearest beach and town if you haven't hired a car. If you're coming with kids mid teens and upwards, still a great site, but you may be ordering a taxi into the main town, Carvoeiro, for entertainment (they have live music through the summer and a good busy vibe).

have fun

Just returned from another great fortnight in Rocha Brava! Great weather and great surroundings. We enjoyed loads of time round the pool with great family feeling all round. We eat out a lot , the resort restaurant,A Farol, was amazing food. Also eat in town with our fav being A Gale, top restaurant for years! Visited Centimes and Bengali beeches well worth it.
As some say ants are pain but if you clean up no problem.
Overall amazing and looking forward to next visit!

Having read reviews .... I was a little worried.

I didn't need to be .... The Staff at check in were great, The Villa ( a two bed by the main pool ) was lovely, yes the furniture was dated but it has new people using it every week.

If you like to watch Brit Tv while away there is Sat tv with BBC and ITV.

The beds are very hard and there are ants !! but the cleaning staff are very good.

The main pool is really nice .... I would like to see the rather creepy security guard replaced, He was just horrible and scary for the kids but it didn't ruin things.

YOU WILL WANT A CAR .... there are resturants around the site but the best deals are in Carvoeiro ..... Chicos resturant was our favourite, nice staff, great food and a free port to finish off the meal.

The beaches around are loverrrrrrly ...... some claim to be the best in the world and they may well be.

Go enjoy it !! and thanks Rocha Brava .

Just returned from a fantastic week at Rocha brava and it was everything the other reviews said. Perfect location, spotless pool and gardens, friendly staff, reasonable food prices and a very relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant just outside the complex called rocha mar is not expensive and the food & service was fab. O farels the resort restaurant serve a beautiful breakfast but the evening meals cost a little bit more. The pool bar has free wifi and the white wine sangria is worth a try! The beach is a bit far to walk with small children but it is only €4 into carvoiero town in a taxi which is well worth it. Lots of bars and restaurants and very family orientated atmosphere in carvoiero. Other reviews mentioned ants, as long as there are no food crumbs on the floor they stay away. I will be returning to rocha brava without a doubt!

Had a great holiday in this resort. We were two adults and one child. Our daughter found many kids to play with in the various pools and playground. The location is great for walks along the Algarve coast towards the city and has several different restaurants nearby. We used the free shuttle bus for a few visits to the city but we mostly stayed in the resort and used the local facilities. Highly recommended.
