“Worldclass food in a local restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Nuno, the owner of the restaurant, understands as no one else to serve you the best food with a local flavour. Various plates with excellent seafood and local flesh were served with the best Portugese wines. As one of the best wines "connaisseurs" of the region he represents the wine board of the Algarve. So food and wine are nicely coupled to one dining experience.

“Great food for a good price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

The service is very pleasant, the manager loves what we does and can spend a nice time talking to you about it.
The restaurant it self is not very modern or glamorous, but its nice and during the day is near the swimming pool.
I asked for the house rosé, but I didn't like the flavor, they immediately suggested brought us another one, always very preoccupied.
The food is somewhere between chef and michelin star. Some aspects to get better to perfection but not very far.
I had the fish with the spinach risotto, very tasty and fresh. A huge portion.
The pork with sauvage rice was more "normal" but very weel cooked too.
The lamb carré was very good too.
But the better on, in my opinion was the fish.
For desserts we mousseline, for chocolate lovers I highly recommend. Has the strong taste of dark chocolate, very dense and smooth.
The panacota was delicious too, i loved it.
In the end the manager offered us a couple of good tradicional portuguese liqueurs.
You need to go by car its a little far away from Carvoeiro center to walk, but very close if you drive. It worth the visit even though because for the price you wont get the kind of food around.
House wines - 13euros
Main courses - 14/22euros (depending what you choose)
Desserts - 4.50euros
We paid about 35 euros/each

“Simply the best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

This a place to treasure! The food is excellent, with a menu which updates frequently and a comprehensive wine list to match. The staff really know their wines and offer helpful advice without pushing those really expensive bottles. Super!

“Score draw”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2012

We stopped using this restaurant a while back, not because of the food which can be outstanding, but we felt that the service was becoming too intrusive, and therefore spoiling the dining experience. At lunchtime last week, seated outside that problem did not occur.
For 13euros my wife ate a shrimp cocktail, followed by John Dory, and raved about both.Being a non fish eater,I could have had a soup for a starter and then chicken in a mushroom sauce. The outside temperature was too hot for soup so I went for the remaining option,i.e. The chicken. This arrived so dry that the sauce was needed to give it moisture.Even my wife apologised for her having the superior meal. If fish is the speciality of the restaurant,to the exclusion of meat, perhaps I'll pass next time, letting her go on her own.

“Wedding Anniversary Dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012

Bit late in writing this review, (busy times) but back in July - on the 22nd to be precise. My husband took me for a surprise dinner to Pimenta Preta, a place we have visited before and never been disappointed. On this particular evening, Nuno found out it was our 10th Wedding Anniversary, took the menus away from us and presented us with an umpteen course meal that was to die for!!! Each course had an accompanying wine, which was perfectly matched and we had the most lovely evening. So, although belated, thank you so much Nuno and staff, you made our wedding anniversary complete.!
