“Stunning sandy beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

Absolutely beautiful long sandy beach with amazing cliff formations and interesting sub-tropical plants. Completely unspoilt...no promonade...only one beach cafe/bar and not overlooked by hotel or apartment developments...A fantastic morning walk from Olhos D'agua beach along Falesia beach all the way to Vilamoura marina. Not to be missed !

“Clean Beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

Great beach below cliffs - ideal for walking. Always a walk down to the beach from either a hotel or parking bay.

“Long beach, more than 5 km”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

Golden sand, peaceful sea, during summer water is about 23 and 24 degrees hot, now in March was 18, perfect for long walking at the sunset. During summer there are some bars in the beach that makes party from 19h00 to 22h00, preparing the night life, very fun.

“Go West Young Man”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

Any rating is based on two prime factors: the intrinsic merit of the attraction, and the merit of other similar attractions in the same area with which it can be compared. Anyone living far from the sea and dropped here by the hand of some genie would find it a marvel, and possibly the most beautiful place on earth; but someone who had intimately covered every nook and cranny of this amazing coastline could well find it just OK. Its most striking feature is its enormous length, running for many miles from Olhos de Agua in the West to Quartiero at its Eastern end. It is flat as a pancake adjacent to the sea, with perfectly smooth layers of golden sand. We have been several times in February and March, at which time is is quite deserted and devoid of any worthwhile amenities such as cafes and restaurants and toilet facilities that are open all year in beaches further West up to and beyond Albufeira. There is good car-parking space at the one major access point, but in the 4 miles I walked towards Villamoura, there was only one point from which you could leave or enter the beach, and given its narrow width, I wondered whether in extreme weather with the sea rushing in fast, this might not be a particular hazard. The cliff itself is theoretically continuous, and it comprises a distinctly grey (limestone?) outward layer that receives the first battering by the sea, and an ochre-coloured inner layer (sandstone?) that merges into the earth. The height is very variable, with parts worn right down to as little as 20 meters above the sand, whereas other sections are as high as 50 meters. The range of rock sculpture that you will see on the smaller coves West of Albufeira simply does not exist here: nor will you find the wondrous outcrops of fairy castles and towering cathedrals of rock that grace this much more beautiful Western region. Finally, walking above the cliffs is neither as easy or rewarding as the same activity further West. So, my advice is "Go West Young Man".

“Stunning views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2013

Clean, safe beach. Breathtaking views, perfect place to chill out and unwind. Couple of beach huts which I presume serve food in the summer, weren't open when we visited.
