“Great Base”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2014

Stayed here for a week with my husband on 6th June. Had a pool view studio which was very spacious, kitchen really tiny no workspace but we ate out mostly so didn't bother us. Beds really comfy. Air con really noisy couldn't have it on through the night. Really clean and well run. Didn't use the restaurant or spa. A great base for Albufeira just a 5 minute walk from the strip. Went to Casa Velha restaurant across the road from hotel which was excellent. Happy House Chinese buffet, best buffet we've had! Sizzling Stone, was ok but atmosphere poor and staff miserable also overpriced. Went to Santa Eulalia beach but 20 euros for 2 beds and umbrella! We went to the beach through the Club Praia D'oura (CPO) as we have stayed there before so knew it was better about a 15 min walk and they were 10 Euro for the same. All in all a great holiday but think will look for somewhere a bit cheaper next time as we hardly spent any time in the hotel and didn't use the facilities.

Room Tip: We stayed in 319 which was a pool view and very good

Stayed here with my husband from 11-18th june. Upon arrival at 12:00 we were told by the rude receptionist that our room wasnt ready and would not be ready until 2:30 not a major wait but a bit inconveniant after a long journey. We stayed in a deluxe studio apartment with a pool view and found it quite plesent room but the maids let it down with there poor cleaning standards, the beds were changed once during our stay and the towels twice, they turned up at odd times in the day ie 4pm and even 5pm one day! The balcony was dirty when we arrived and never cleaned once during our stay. Apart from that the hotel was ok, the pool area was perticualy nice and kept very clean, the location was very good just a 10 minute walk to the strip with plenty of bars and restaurants on the way, the beach is approx a 10 minute walk also. I can not comment on the food or resturant as we were self catering but the facilities in our room were very good with a fridge/kettle and toaster, microwave and two electric hobs, another good thing was you get a free wi fi pass for the duration of your stay.

Room Tip: dont get a early flight thinking your room will be ready when you arrive as they make everyone wait...

Stayed here from 11-18 June with my daughter, her husband and my two grandchildren. We were in a two bedroom/ two bathroom apartment with 2 balconies. Rooms were spotless-the only downside was that there was no clothes line on balconies and you had to hang things over the balcony-as a result I came home with one less swimsuit as it must have blown off the balcony. The pool area was hosed down at night and pool cleaned daily. Staff very friendly.
We were within easy reach of restaurants and although I was didn't go to the beach I was told it was only 10 mins walk downhill but took longer to come back up.
Weather was in mid 30s most of the time and high 20s at night but had cooled down by the time we left.
My daughter and family stayed there in same hotel last year and were so impressed they came back. Also handy to airport

Room Tip: Room 120 has 2 bedrooms/2 bathrooms and overlooks pool

Stayed here from June 6-13. We had a most enjoyable stay. We stayed in a one bed self catering apartment. Which had a microwave and cooking hobs. The room was very spacious and had a up to dade LG 40 inch tv! Bed clothes were changed every two days and floors mopped and beds made daily by cleaners. Reception staff very friendly and gladly gave recommendations for excursions around the area. On arrival paid 30 Euro for safe in our room and got 15 Euro back when checking out. The pool area was very clean and plenty of loungers everyday. Overall the hotel was extremely modern and clean. It's just 5 mins to the strip. Also 6 Euro in a taxi to old town. This hotel also has entertainment at night with a singer every night. Turn right from entrance and plenty of bars and restaurants with full irish breakfasts for 5 Euro. Also supermarket 2 mins away and has all u need including a fresh bakery. The spa is also very modern with inside pool and steam room.

Room Tip: Get a Rom with pool view.

We stayed here last year, and booked for 4nights 5days this year with my mum sister and son,the hotel is spotless, the staff are friendly and very helpful. We had a 2bedroom apt,no218,overlooking the pool,it was gorgeous, loads of room and very homely, and comfortable. There is plenty of bars and restaurants, and not too far to walk to the strip. We got a taxi into the old town, which wasn't that far away. The only downside from last yr was there was no entertainment on throughout the day,and the evenings, although it was advertised.Would definitely recommend this hotel, and hopefully be back soon

The hotel is located in the resort of Santa Eulalia, Albufeira Old Town is a brisk 30 minute walk away down the main road (a taxi costs around €6 each way) the main strip is about a 5 minute walk away and Oura beach about a 10 minute walk. There are many bars and restaurants along the walk close by to the hotel. There is a large supermarket just around the corner.
We stayed in a Junior Suite (room 214) the room was large enough but not as large as we were expecting with it being described as a suite. There was a small kitchen area with a combi microwave, hob, sink, fridge and all the necessary utensils for making small meals/ snacks. We were disappointed by the beds, they were 2 beds pushed together which is not unusual, but there were separate sheets and duvets for each bed so it really felt like you were sleeping separately. The view from the balcony wasn't great in this room, we looked over a neighbouring hotel and the main road. The room was clean and the maids came every day and provided a friendly service. There was an air con unit which was very noisy, however we found we didn't really need to use it as the room was nice and cool.
The staff in the hotel were friendly, reception staff helped us with booking attractions and directions and the bar staff were equally friendly. The pool and garden area is lovely, we chose to sunbathe in the garden but there were plenty of sun loungers in both areas we never struggled to get 2 together with an umbrella. The only downside was that the pool was absolutely freezing! This was a shame as it put us off using it. The pool and garden were both clean and peaceful. We used the Spa on one day when the weather was not good, we paid €10 for a couple to use it for the day but also had to each buy a swimming cap for €3.50 each. There is a pool with a jacuzzi section, a sauna (which was unfortunately out of order) and a turkish bath. The spa was clean and very nice. We didn't get any treatments but they are readily available if you book a day in advance.
We stayed bed and breakfast- the breakfast was very basic. The cooked selection wasn't very nice so we stuck with cereal and bread, there is also a continental style selection of cold meats, cheese etc. The first few days were fine, the restaurant was quiet in a morning so there was plenty of space and enough food available. However part way through our stay a large group of Spanish people arrived who seemed to be on some sort of trip. We felt that they were prioritised over other guests, they took up most of the space in the restaurant with tables being kept empty for them at the expense of other guests who were turned away and asked to come back later. One morning there were no tables for 2 available so we sat on a table for 4, part way through our breakfast we were asked by a member of staff if another English couple could come and sit on our table in order to free up a table for the Spanish (there were plenty of tables already free for them) On the morning that they were leaving they obviously had an early breakfast, by the time we got there at 9AM (breakfast runs until 10) there was virtually nothing left, no orange juice and not even any milk! This was not replenished.
Overall we had a great holiday, the hotel was nice and good value for money. Nearby restaurants that we would recommend would be Casa Velha (just across the road), The Sizzling Stone and the American Diner around the corner near the supermarket. The Old Town is full of great restaurants.
