“Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

Just returned with my husband from this hotel. The hotel is very nice and the staff are very friendly. I booked and payed for a junior suite which was lovely but the view we got was of a car park. I feel if you are paying for an upgrade to a suite you should get a better view and there is some amazing views to be had so was a bit disappointed with that. The food was ok not a great selection but always found stuff to eat. We did enjoy our few days there , would we go back probably not,a bit to quiet for us and have been to better 4star hotels.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room as the views would be amazing

Thank you very much for your review and comments. We understand your disapointment with the view, the better option was to book a suite seaview instead. Looking forward to welcome you back at the Porto Bay Falésia. Best regards. Fernando Reis Filipe

5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

Having stayed at the Porto Santa Maria in Madeira we were expecting good things from the Falesia and I have to say it didn't dissappoint. We stayed in the first week in October 2012 for one week with friends and had 2 side sea view rooms on the 4th floor. Arriving on an early flight we didn't expect our rooms to be ready but by late morning we were unpacking. We couldn't of asked for more really as we could see the sea and had the afternoon sun which shone for all 7 days.
Without repeating all of the previous comments we found this hotel to be excellent value for money. We dithered over taking a half board basis as we like to eat out but the food was always enjoyable and plentiful and our decision to dine in was the right one. Served every night with a different theme, we all found it excellent as was the breakfast. Queues do form in the mornings as they do at most hotels and occasionally the mushrooms or eggs were slow to be replensihed but if that is something that ruins your holiday then go self catering. We couldn't fault it in any way.
Our rooms were meticulously kept clean by the wonderful staff and that extended to the bar, reception, the restaurant and poolside. I really can't think of anything bad to say.
We hired a car from reception for 4 days using Europcar. Went to Vilamoura 3 times and the marina is worth a night time drive too.
Prices in general outside the hotel were fair unlike Greece last year and the happy hour made the hotel bar prices more reasonable. Albufeira is worth one visit at least, the kind of place you either love or maybe not but the marina there was dissappointing. Great beach though.
If one thing you need to help you decide on whether to stay at the Porto Bay Falesia is 'are there returning guest' then YES of course. We have already booked for next year. You too won't be dissappointed.

Room Tip: If you want to save a few pounds then side sea view rooms on the 4th or 5th floor are fine.

Stayed from October 30th for one week having previously stayed at Porto Bay, Madeira. Reception staff friendly and helpful, others distant. Hotel clean and comfortable. Food disappointing. Breakfast especially seemed geared to the German guests. Evening meals in the Madeira retaurant, where we ate on four occasions, were lacking in taste e.g the Portuguese and International nights were indestinguishable.

Room Tip: Overlooking pool and sea would be essential high season.

Stayed as a family for half term late Oct-early November. Hotel immaculate, staff friendly and quietly efficient. We visited the bar most evenings for happy hour, bar staff very personable and good with the children. Breakfasts good, but we chose not to eat in the hotel in the evening as 2 of our 4 children would, at the ages of 12 & 14 counted as adults and would therefore have been too expensive, so ate in different restaurants in the village. Did have snacks one day in the pool restaurant which were good value and well presented. Were unlucky with the weather so most of our time was spent walking along the beautiful beach well wrapped up in fleeces we had taken just in case.

The Porto Bay Falesia is Great spot to unwind and relax. The service is good, very clean, good food. Internet service is not good in the rooms but if you move into the hallway or to the lobby, it is fine. Important to get an ocean view room and on a higher floor to enjoy the view.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

We stayed at the Port Bay Falesia for 10 days, having stayed twice at the Hotel Porto Mare in Madeira. On this occasion we were with our daughter and granddaughter. The hotel's greatest attribute is its staff who are very welcoming and highly efficient. A word of praise for our cleaner whose name I am afraid I cannot recall (Rm 375) but she was truly lovely and really hard working (bath towel sculptures were something that particularly delighted our granddaughter Isabella). Pool bar and restaurant staff were great, going beyond what you might normally expect in terms of service despite the hotel being busy throughout our stay. They nearly all made a particular fuss of Issy and the food was always of a high standard. I used the gym which was spacious and little frequented which suited me fine. This was a pool holiday which isn't quite my thing but it was relaxing. The area is clean but apart from the beach, which is lovely, I felt it had little to recommend it. Albufeira isn't my cup of tea but taxis are quite cheap, certainly less so than Madeira, so the 4 mile trip wasn't a problem. At the end of the holiday I managed to leave a jacket in the room but the staff mailed it to us very quickly so I can't thank them enough. We enjoyed the evening entertainment and cocktails at happy hour were always great. Spa also very good according to my wife, daughter and granddaughter.

I have no idea what prompted the person from Australia to give the hotel such a bad review but I can only assume she is a serial moaner. Her comments certainly lacked objectivity.

If I have one grip about this hotel it is the sound insulation between rooms. The Portuguese Masters golf was on while we were there and we heard a shout at 6.00 am one morning of 'In the hole, great shot'. Perhaps it was a euphamism but I couldn't resist saying to my wife that I hoped he hadn't lost his ball.Beds however were really comfy.

Room Tip: Go for sea view because side sea view look out across the hotel next door.
