“So Inviting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2014

We have just returned from our fourth stay at this hotel and had yet another relaxing holiday.
The staff welcomed us with a glass of wine and many remembered us from previous visits. The gift of flowers and wine on the second evening was much appreciated.
The housekeeping was excellent and the rooms checked daily by staff, which were always spotless. The bar staff and those on reception were particularly helpful with a fluent command of both the German and English language. My only criticism would be that some of the staff in the restaurant were not always professional, calling across the tables to each other and reaching across to retrieve plates. The chef at breakfast looked somewhat harassed at times and there was a lack of hot food occasionally, similarly during the evening meals. This was not the service we had encountered before, so maybe there was a lack of staff available at times. Saying that, the standard of food was excellent and drinks reasonably priced.
We sampled the snack bar three times and the food was very tasty. The cakes available at the bar were also delicious and the cappacino with cream was to die for.
The entertainment provided was good and the guitar player was superb. We spent many a lively evening singing along. The Elvis tribute was also warmly received.
I also visited the hairdresser in the hotel and was invited back the following day to check my cut and revamp it...very good service and good value, Victoria.
The staff always found time to chat and make your stay feel special.
Well done, Riu, we will return.

Room Tip: Ask for a mattress topper...housekeeping will put one on the bed immediately and you will have a sof...

We returned from the Riu Algarve Palace today. It is a superb hotel in which we have had an excellent week. Over the last few years we have stayed in a lot of hotels all over the world and this is up there with the best. The rooms are large and very comfortable - though the beds are a little hard! The food is excellent. Not only is there a great choice it is of the highest quality. Perhaps the hotel's greatest asset is it's staff. They are superb being incredibly friendly, helpful, supportive and talkative.

The palace is a lovely hotel first class facilities and awesome location . ( research beach pics)
Gorgeous orange cliffs drop behind the beach it looks amazing in your photos .
The wild. Birds were in abundance , and it was getting very green the dryness of the summer was passing . So pretty ...
The rooms are great . We also took a mattress topper just out of noseyness really . What a good service though .??
The food in the hotel was good we also did a few nights out although not too much open in the resort at the time we were there .was season end .
I read other reports and a few chose the transfer company we used yelllowfishtransfers and I also agree when we return we will always use them as they were great, cheap and on time.

We like Riu hotels we always see if there is one in the country we choose .
This is no exception the standard is second to none . And the venue takes
some beating .
There are gorgeous beaches in the Caribbean but falasia beach in front of
this hotel is well up there with the best..

The food and the restaurant service is also impeccable .

We were recommended to take a transfer car to the hotel by our friends who
travel to the Algarve regularly they use yellowfish transfers They
were also unbeatable immaculate vehicle . Friendly and chatty driver and my
husband was able to check his emails as they had wifi in the car .
We had a fantastic break and usually we don't like to repeat a place but I
think for a winter break and as it's such a short flight , the weather was
beautiful we will almost certainly return to the palace .

Big hotel with nice gardens and view. The outdoor pool was very cold in november, indoor pool better.
The buffets were large with food of average quality,Riu Bonanza Mallorca was more special.
The desserts and cakes not that tasty,no real cream and butter.
Friendly efficient service.
Beds were not that comfortable and the decoration average, smells and sound from the kitchen on balcony.
The corridors were very cold and fist few days the room as well.

There is a EVA bus service to Albufeira and Faro with connections to Lagos, Silves and for Carvoeiro change again in Lagoa.
A weekly tourist--pass is available at Albufeira bus station.

Several beaches: larger Praia Falesia or smaller Praia Olhos de agua.
It can be quite a hike to the beaches as there is no direct path from hotel garden, The path from Falesia to Portobay is a shortcut.

The gardens were very quiet to enjoy the november sunshine and several birds were seen :Hoopoo,s,blue magpies,gulls..

The village Olhos de agua is nothing special,it,s simplicity contrasts the hotel's (would be?)luxe.

We stayed there at the beginning of October for seven nights. The hotel and staff were all excellent, nothing was too much trouble for them. As other reviewers have commented the hotel is at the top of a steep hill,if you have mobility problems, I would suggest another one. The weather was great when we were there and we went a day to Albuferia and Villamoura and enjoyed the latter more. All public areas are spotless as with all the other Riu,s we have been in before. We had a lot of Riu points and were able to use them as the hotel is not all inclusive. The price of food and drink are reasonable but still would mount up over the week.

Although, we enjoyed our holiday and enjoyed trying out a Palace, we would look for to a Riu with an all inclusive option in the future.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms can be noisy if situated near the air condition units(on ground floor under rooms...
